The global propaganda war against Israel is the size of an avalanche. Unchecked, it continues to gain both acceleration and mass and is, if anything, as dangerous as any suicide killer or rocket attack.

Earlier this month, in the midst of a perfectly pleasant conversation, a (now former) friend unexpectedly started yelling at me about my defense of “that” country—“you know, the one that sends its military to purposely blind young activists who have come to free Gaza.”

This friend knew absolutely nothing about the incident, and nothing about the war against Israel. My guess? She reads about Israel in the mainstream and leftstream media, and given how propaganda works, she clearly felt entitled, even obligated, to attack me because Israel had dared to defend itself against paid Turkish assassins--and because a young Jewish-American activist, mesmerized by the International Solidarity Movement, found herself standing at the Kalandiya crossing holding a Turkish and Austrian flag where she was accidentally blinded by a tear gas canister.

My friend probably believes that Mohammed al-Dura was killed by the IDF on purpose too.

She “believes” the propaganda. The people whose fate is intimately connected with the consequences of such Big Lies dismiss and minimize the power of such propaganda to hurt them. “Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me.”
They are wrong, so wrong.

In 1980, after a United Nations conference that was, indeed, the precursor to the first Durban conference, I immediately flew to Israel; this was my fourth or fifth trip in as many years. The Israeli media interviewed me about the virulent nature of anti-Semitism at the United Nations and on the world stage. At least one interview was on the front page. I tried to talk to Israelis about anti-Semitism, and with the exception of the gloriously grave poet Rachel Chalfi(who interviewed me for Yediot Aharonot), no one really paid attention.

At the time, I wanted to write a book about the subject. My agent strongly discouraged me. He said that “just because I had seen some synagogue bombings in Europe” and was “saddened by the security measures” that Israeli embassies and consulates had adopted in the wake of airplane hijackings and kidnappings—does not mean that a new Holocaust is on the way.

Thus, I was on this mission for twenty years before the Intifada of 2000 broke over Israel’s head. Privately, and in lectures before major Jewish-American organizations, major American feminist organizations, and in conversations with other Jewish feminists, I said:

We are facing a long war of ideas. Israelis (circa 1980) do not seem to understand anti-Semitism or the need for combating Big Lies with healthy doses of the truth. Israeli diplomats and their Jewish-American supporters are not conversant with the language of the academic and feminist left. They cannot hold their own against it. The propaganda war will be waged with these concepts, no other.

I also said: Once, Jews were persecuted because they had no ancestral home — and no army, navy, or air force. Now, Jews, both in Israel and around the world, are persecuted precisely because they have an ancestral home which dares to defend its citizens from deadly harm. This Jew-hatred refuses to die. And Jewish-American, Jewish-European, and Israeli leaders have refused to recognize that the contemporary war against the Jews is bigger, and the consequences graver, than ever before in history and that this war is primarily being fought — and won or lost — through propaganda and the manipulation of ideas. Leftist progressives and journalists in the West have joined forces with Islamists, the United Nations, and human rights groups in propagating Big Lies against the small Jewish state.

My first post-Intifada of 2000 article appeared in Haaretz. I called upon the Israeli intelligentsia to show equal compassion for the Jewish victims of violence—at least as much as they showed for non-Jewish victims. I was called a “traitor” by several Jewish-Israeli feminists on the left.
That was only the beginning.

In 2003, when I published my book The New Anti-Semitism, my colleagues branded me a “racist” and “conservative.” Jewish-American leaders pooh-poohed it, or paid no attention to it. Many insisted that “right wing Christians” were the most dangerous Jew-haters. I disagreed then and I disagree now. Many Jewish-American intellectuals insisted that such “alarmism” should not be encouraged, that things have been “worse in the past” and that matters are not “that bad” now. Oh, speak for yourself — but dare not speak for Israel. And do not think that Israel’s fate is not your fate too, as well as the fate of Western civilization.

It gives me no pleasure that, seven years later, more and more American Jewish organization leaders are beginning to sound as I once did. The unfunded and poorly funded pro-Israel grassroots anti-propaganda and campus activist groups are way ahead of the Fat Cats. And they are being forced to work for scraps and to fight each other for the most pitiful of handouts. Now, when major Jewish donors are finally starting to demand that “something be done” to deal with the hatred of Israel on American campuses, the large Jewish-American organizations suddenly claim that they will do it.

On their watch we not only lost this propaganda war—we did not fight it at all.
The other night I was talking to a very knowledgeable man who assured me that surely, AIPAC was on the job. Said I: “Sir, AIPAC has done an excellent job, but mainly in lobbying Congress on Israel’s behalf. The problem is so much bigger than Congress. There is the internet, the western campuses, all the international human rights organizations, the United Nations, the Islamic world and for that matter, the governments of at least 195 countries. And then there are all the coming generations…..by now, the Saudi, Wahhabi lobby has poisoned countless generations with myths about Israel’s evil.

It is not enough merely to lobby Congress. It is not even enough to merely document the anti-Israel bias in magazine and journal articles afterthey have already been published. I would need a team to help me work on this. I am an unfunded, barefoot warrior, fighting my own private Yom Kippur war without a gun or boots.We are up against a juggernaut of brainwashing which does not stop coming our way. Where will the funding come from that will meet and raise this diabolical game of propaganda poker against the Jewish state? We need the equivalent of a series of Stuxnet viruses in the war of ideas. Nothing less will do.

There was a moment this week in which I felt very proud to be Canadian. There could be moments like that in any week, but this one was unusual for its cause. It was something done by the government, that invoked principle, and required courage. That made it something rare, to be savoured.

Pride is not always a sin, incidentally. Vainglory is sinful; conceited arrogance, very bad; the kind of pride that attempts to diminish God, downright satanic. The Greeks knew hubris as the deadliest of moral errors; Saints Gregory and Thomas rightly identified self-exalting pride as the “queen bee in the hive” of human depravities. And its vices are manifest in every kind of presumption, down to the most venial claim to be able to do something not within one’s competence. (Modern politicians make their livings on such claims.)

But a certain satisfaction in a job well done — we can wink at that. And when the satisfaction is in a job well done by someone we usually regard as a duffer, well, there might even be something holy in it.

So let us not miss this opportunity to praise the Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper. He cost
Canada a coveted seat on the UN Security Council, by refusing to sell out Israel. He withdrew our candidacy when it became apparent that the bloc vote of Arab and Islamic states (about a third of the UN membership) had been turned against us; thereby conceding the seat to Portugal, with her more flexible policy of moral appeasement.

In the course of scotching our bid, Harper allowed the announcement of an important trading agreement between Canada and Israel to go ahead, the very day before the vote. This could easily have been disguised or elided.

He likewise demurred on an attempt by the United Arab Emirates to link landing rights for commercial aviation to foreign policy positions.In addition to organizing opposition to Canada’s Security Council bid, the Emirates have now unilaterally withdrawn Canadian access to Camp Mirage, which we have been using through the last decade in the deployment of our troops to Afghanistan.

In a further move as characteristically petty and childish as it was shoddy, the UAE refused overflight permission to a plane carrying our defence minister home from a visit to Afghanistan.

Among all western nations — not excluding the United States — Canada has taken the clearest stand in defence of Israel’s legitimate rights and interests. We have paid, and we will continue to pay for this. And we should take genuine pride in paying for our defiance of efforts by the Arab and Muslim bloc at the UN to isolate Israel, and make her a pariah.

Words cannot express my contempt for Michael Ignatieff, and other opposition members, who have tried to cloud what they know is a stand on principle.
Canada is not “tilting to Israel.”

Our government is rather maintaining a policy that has been consistent for more than six decades, since the state of Israel was created by the same United Nations after the Second World War.We have affirmed and continue to affirm Israel’s right to exist, as a Jewish nation — just as she was from the beginning. And in a region where there are many squalid governments, and almost all formally claim to be “Islamic states” — where all except Israel belong to the only explicitly religious international bloc (the Organization of the Islamic Conference) — we rightly refuse to dignify objections to what they call “Zionism.”

The most abhorrent suggestion is that, by refusing to abandon our obligations to Israel, the Harper government is dabbling in “Islamophobia.” This term, through frequent repetition, has become the standard Left-Islamist smear against anyone who contradicts them.As A. Barton Hinkle, sage of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, was reminding us this week, the term is fraudulent in every possible way. Far from designating some “fear of Islam,” or of Muslims, it is applied exclusively to people who have the courage to oppose their most unreasonable demands. Moreover, it is used as cover for very obvious fear of Islamist reprisals, in the media and elsewhere. The term is thus an Orwellian inversion.

As Hinkle and several others have argued, the perfect example of real “Islamophobia” was provided by prominent newspaper editors across the U.S. the Sunday before last, who pulled an inoffensive syndicated cartoon by Wiley Miller, which merely raised the subject of cowardly self-censorship. Our own freedom depends, now and always, upon the refusal to scare so easily; and conversely, on a willingness to pay the price for principled stands.

This past week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fought for his status as leader of Israel’s rightist camp. As always, the person who dragged him to this court was his Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman.

One cannot deny the fact that Lieberman is taking off. His electoral power has not only been maintained, it keeps growing. There is plenty of euphoria around him and the polls are impressive. It appears that the plan devised by Arthur Finkelstein that worked well before the elections continues to work well after them too: The willingness to press buttons that bring votes, regardless of the daily events and immediate responses.

Once upon a time, Sharon and Netanyahu were said to be contending for the leadership of the rightist camp. For some time, there was talk about Netanyahu and Silvan Shalom. Now, it’s Bibi and Lieberman.

Lieberman has turned into a tangible threat on Netanyahu’s status within the Right. Somehow, the foreign minister’s repeated clashes with world leaders, including the way he reprimanded the French and Spanish foreign ministers this past week, his outrageous UN speech, and his bluntness (not to mention rudeness) have a different effect on Israel’s public opinion.

The loyalty oath which the government voted on this week, requiring non-Jews to pledge their allegiance to a Jewish state, is very remote from the law originally proposed by Lieberman, yet the foreign minister was fully credited for it. Netanyahu appeared to be a fly sitting on an elephant’s back and showing off: Look at how strong we are.

This law may greatly bother leftists, intellectuals, and journalists, yet this issue preoccupies the public at this time and public support for the legislation is much greater than the support for Lieberman himself.

Overall, the Yisrael Beiteinu chairman is currently associated with Israeli pride that does not compromise or ingratiate. His solutions are simplistic, yet are well received by many. One may not like it, yet the foreign minister’s position that there will be no peace with the Palestinians – either in this generation or the next – sounds logical to many, as the public opinion polls show.

Moreover, Lieberman’s territorial tradeoff proposal is no longer perceived as immoral or inhumane: What’s the problem; we’ll take Ariel and give away Umm al-Fahm in return. Meanwhile, his election slogan, “no citizenship without loyalty,” stirs debate more than it provokes revulsion: What’s the big deal, said many people this past week, they do the same in America.

While Lieberman’s blunt conduct vis-à-vis European foreign ministers made some people uneasy, you can be sure that many others believe it was justified and logical. Suddenly it appears that every foreign leader feels the right to slam us – they should solve their own problems before criticizing us.

One thing is clear: Lieberman makes sure to remain prominent and relevant at all times. He ensures that people identify him with the issues on the agenda, rather than with his legal troubles. He is able to and allows himself to speak out more than the prime minister, especially after deciding to ignore his own official title. No doubt, Lieberman created a new model for his position: A foreign minister who thinks there’s nobody to talk to.

One may be angry, revolted, or opposed to this, yet we cannot ignore one fact: It’s working. Many Israelis say that only Lieberman speaks Arabic. How simple it is: The public accepted the “nobody to talk to” approach and that there will be no peace here, certainly not in this generation.

When Lieberman is asked how he’s doing, he always replies: True heaven. There’s no doubt this is precisely where he is at this time.

There has been two little known and regarded solutions to the "palestinian" / Israeli conflict. Some years ago it was suggested in exchange for peace Western Nations would finance the relocation of "palestinians" to other Arab or Western nations. The theory being there was never in recorded history a "palestinian state", and that some many "palestinian" refugee camps are over sixty years old. There has never been an Arab nation in what is now Greater Israel...so this is simply a refugee problem! Why create a"palestinian" state?

Then there was the "Jordanian solution". Why not simply have Jordan re annex portions of West Bank as it was once Jordan anyway, and give the so called"palestinians" semi-autonomous status? The citizenry of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is mostly "palestinian" now.

There are twenty-four Arab states in the Middle East now and fifty-two self proclaimed Islamic States using some form of Islamic jurisprudence in the world today.

Does the world really need one more? But the record of human history is very clear. The world needs a strong, self-reliant and secure Jewish State.

Minor US offers won’t change that fact.

Moreover, the main underlying problem is lack of confidence that the Palestinian Authority wants peace, is willing to compromise or will implement future commitments.When we consider the specifics, then, the US offer isn’t relevant.But there are more problems. Consider: Why two months, why not three or four? Why not two weeks? What is happening within two months? The US election!

The implication is that the Obama administration is offering Israel the following basic deal: Make us look good until the vote.That’s it. Because the only alternative view is that the US believes the onceevery- two-week talks will make such dramatic progress in two months that both Israel and the Palestinians will be on the verge of peace, so an end to the freeze won’t matter.Is that credible? No.

And so when press reports say the White House is angry that Netanyahu rejected the offer, we can well understand why. It certainly isn’t going to pressure the PA to give in, which is the other alternative. The collapse of the peace talks on the verge of the November elections don’t make it look good, and the administration cannot do anything to Israel until later.

Second, the US agrees that it would support measures to prevent the smuggling of weapons and terrorists into Israel after a Palestinian state is established.This is interpreted as allowing Israeli forces to stay in the Jordan Valley for several years.

This is nice, but Israel knows that the PA would never agree and that the US government isn’t going to do a lot of arm-twisting to get it to change its position.Moreover, this would set up a situation in which an isolated Israeli force would be subject to attack by terrorists, and international condemnation when it had to intercept or kill them.

WHILE NOT exactly the same thing, the US and the “international community” promised to stop cross-border weapons’ smuggling into Lebanon in 2006 and four years later, not a single weapon has been intercepted. True, in this case IDF troops would be doing the work, but the skepticism of their getting international support remains.

Third, the letter promises the US government would veto any UN Security Council resolution against Israel for the next year. This is insulting. Historically, the US has watered-down, blocked or vetoed such resolutions. So this “concession” in fact signals to Israeli leaders that the current administration isn’t exactly reliable. And, of course, it suggests that after the year is over Washington will not veto such resolutions – a big step backward.

Fourth, the administration pledges to talk with Israel and Arab states about a “regional security architecture.” Wow, that can be expected to yield precisely...zero.And finally, the US will sell more weapons to Israel after there is a peace agreement and the creation of a Palestinian state.Well, that’s pretty obvious, isn’t it? Again, suggesting that this would happen if construction is frozen for two months also simultaneously suggests that it won’t happen otherwise. Like the veto point, it actually withdraws something Israel was previously expecting.According to the media, Netanyahu politely pointed out that when the US originally demanded the freeze, it promised that it would secure concessions from Arab states. This didn’t happen. It also promised that the Palestinians would be responsive and fulfill their commitments. That didn’t happen either.

Indeed, they refused to negotiate until the last minute and then did so, partly, just to get the freeze extended still further.First, PA President Mahmoud Abbas knew the freeze would last nine months. If he wanted to give Israel an incentive to continue it he could have done so. Instead, he stalled until the very last moment. For weeks, the US begged and pressed him to return to talks.Second, if the Palestinians negotiate a two-state solution they will get – worstcase analysis – almost all of the West Bank.

There will be no Jewish settlements in that territory. The settlements will be gone. All the roads and buildings Israel built (unless dismantled in the days before the agreement’s implementation) will go to the Palestinians. So if Abbas and the Palestinians are horrified by construction, wouldn’t it have made sense for them to negotiate real fast?

But, on the contrary, they stretch out the process year after year after year.Remember that the PA refused to negotiate for well over a year after January 2009. All that time Israel was building in settlements. Then for the past nine months when it wasn’t building in the West Bank, the PA still refused to negotiate.Here’s a full time line: Phase One: 1993-late 2000. The PLO and later PA were in no hurry to make a deal and killed talks in 2000. Israel made a huge concession to begin the process in 1993: No new settlements or territorial expansion of existing ones. It kept that commitment. The PLO and PA never demanded a freeze on construction in existing settlements.

Phase Two: 2000-2009. The PA refused any sustained peace negotiations at a time when there were no limits on construction within settlements, but never demanded that it stop. The freeze on construction in existing settlements was President Barack Obama’s idea in mid- 2009, and they rejected it as the basis for renewed talks.

Phase Three: 2009-2010. After Israel did freeze construction, the PA wasted nine months – knowing the clock was ticking on the temporary freeze – while resisting direct talks.Thus, the PA has wasted 17 years, during which thousands of buildings have been added to settlements. Two months more of a construction freeze won’t change anything, except perhaps the administration’s electoral fortunes. End of my article

There is just one rule for a soldier...stay alive!

Education, not scare tactics, should be used with soldiers who are courageous and selfless enough to risk their lives in combat to protect their country.

Two infantry sergeants from the IDF’s Givati infantry brigade face up to a three-year prison sentence for using a Palestinian boy as a human shield.On January 15, 2009, in the middle of Operation Cast Lead, the two soldiers were searching a building in the Gaza City suburb of Tel al-Hawa while facing gunfire from Hamas militants, when they came across bags and suitcases suspected of being booby-trapped.
The two soldiers ordered a boy, who had gathered with family and neighbors in a bomb shelter, to open the bags.

Apparently the two soldiers were motivated by the desire to protect themselves from a possible explosion.“The boy, who feared for his fate and was under duress, wet his pants,” wrote the three-judge military court that convicted the two IDF soldiers. “The option of using a civilian, especially a child, was not among the legitimate options at the defendants’ disposal,” the judges wrote.

“Combat is no excuse for applying improper force.”THE JUDGES’ ruling is commendable. IDF soldiers are and should be held to the highest moral standards even when Hamas and other enemies of Israel are not.

The IDF’s scrupulous adherence to war ethics gives Israel the incalculable advantage of justness of purpose. This is true even when terrorists cynically exploit Israeli morality to gain the upper hand on the battlefield. Hamas systematically uses Gaza’s civilian population as human shields and purposefully blurs distinctions between militants and non-combatants.

The bags discovered by the soldiers could very well have been booby-trapped.Hamas has no qualms about killing its own people along with IDF soldiers.Within this context the two soldiers’ behavior, forbidden by both international war conventions and the IDF’s own rules of engagement, can at least be understood, if not condoned, as a failed attempt to meet the nearly insurmountable challenges of fighting asymmetric, unconventional warfare in densely populated residential areas.Judging from recent reports of purported “boredom killings” carried out by US forces in Afghanistan and documented revenge killings by allied troops in Iraq, other western armies fare no better, and sometimes much worse, than the IDF in such combat settings.

And if we are brutally honest with ourselves – especially those of us with children, relatives or loved ones serving in IDF combat units – we would have a hard time blaming a soldier, faced with a life threatening situation, who chooses to endanger the civilian population of the enemy rather than himself.In the specific case of the two Givati soldiers, there were other options besides endangering themselves or Palestinians – options such as evacuating the entire building or blowing up the suspicious bags from a distance.

While the two soldiers should be disciplined, they should not be used as an example “so that others will see and be instilled with fear” as the IDF prosecutor’s office argued after the conviction was handed down.Education, not scare tactics, should be used with soldiers who are courageous and selfless enough to risk their lives in combat to protect their country. Nor should the soldiers be obligated to serve a prison sentence.

A suspended sentence that could be enacted in the case of future infractions is ample enough.THE CASE of the two Givati soldiers should be used as an opportunity to restate the IDF’s high ethical level and its capacity for self-criticism.In recent years the IDF has augmented the ranks of the Military Police Investigative Department and has drafted more civilian attorneys into reserve duty to serve as military prosecutors. Judicial officers are consulted before and during the planning stage of counter-insurgency strikes.

More emphasis has been placed on war ethics education, including the inculcation of the Spirit of the IDF [ruah tzahal] among troops, which includes an injunction not “to employ their weapons and power in order to harm non-combatants.”There is always room for improvement. And the handling of the case of the two Givati soldiers underlines that the IDF is committed to precisely that improvement.

The "palestinians" are the problem!

The "palestinians" have always been the "bastard children" , the "pore niggahs" or "tar babies" in the Middle East and the throughout the Arab and Islamic World. There are twenty-four Arab States in the Middle East and all twenty-four of them have quotas and or outright bans on immigration to their nations on "palestinians"... and have had for many decades predating the Six Day War.

There are fifty-two self-proclaimed Islamic Nations with self-proclaimed Islaimic or Sharia systems of jurisprudence in the world and ... all of them have either bans or quotas on "palestinian" immigration to their "countries". These facts seem to beg the question: Why does the "world need" a "palestinian state"? Why doesn't Judea and Samarea simply "return" to Jordan. Or what some still call the "Jordanian solution".

Now America's first "African American" President is attempting his level best to more fully screw up the Middle East and is destined to ignominious failure.

George Mitchell, President Obama's special envoy, is testing Prime Minister Netanyahu: Has he learned from past errors by repeating them – which would demolish his credibility - or by avoiding them, which would resurrect his domestic and international clout?

In order to enhance his own clout and Israel's posture of deterrence – which constitute essential prerequisites to Israel's national security, Israel's strategic ties with the US and to the attainment of durable peace – it is incumbent upon Netanyahu to refute Obama's, Mitchell's, and Clinton's assumption that he (Netanyahu) tends to transform red lines into pink lines.

On May 29, 2009 – six months before the freeze on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria and three weeks before Netanyahu's "Two States Speech" at Bar Ilan University – the Washington Post reported that Mahmoud Abbas "fully expects that Netanyahu will never agree to the full settlement freeze." Abbas assumed that it would take a multi-year US pressure to force Netanyahu to publicly accept the two-state formula and to freeze Israeli settlement construction."

The Washington Post assumed that it is "a Palestinian fantasy that the US will simply force Israel to make critical concessions, whether or not its democratic government agrees, while Arabs passively watch and applaud." However, Abbas, the Washington Post and Obama have learned that Jerusalem is capable of transforming red lines into pink lines.

In March 2009, upon Netanyahu's entry into the Prime Minister's Office, Obama's team was convinced that he would be susceptible to pressure for a complete freeze of Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria. They dismissed the advice by veterans of President Clinton's team to refrain from such pressure, lest Netanyahu defy the pressure, while enjoying the support of most Americans and most legislators, thus dragging Obama into a losing proposition. However, they found out that Jerusalem could transform red lines into pink lines.

Netanyahu's first 18 months in office demonstrated that submission to pressure intensified pressure, radicalized Arab expectations and demands, undermined Israel's moral standing, eroded the PM's image and the strategic posture of the Jewish State in the Middle East and in Washington, DC and weakened the conviction of Israelis in their own cause.

In contrast, the eight years of Prime Minister Shamir in office were top heavy on US resentment of his steadfastness and defiance. Washington opposed Shamir's policy toward the Palestinians, but respected his principle-driven policy and his capability to withstand domestic and external pressure. On a rainy day, Shamir was a unique strategic ally in face of regional and global mutual threats, which were significantly more important than the Palestinian issue in impacting vital US interests.

Thus, irrespective of the unbridgeable gap, between the US and Israel, in the narrow context of the Arab-Israeli context, the bilateral strategic cooperation in the wider regional and global context expanded in an unprecedented manner. Jerusalem should have learned that holding on to red lines bolsters Israel's life line.

Prime Minister Netanyahu crossed the Rubicon on June 14, 2009, publicly endorsing the two-state solution, in order to alleviate Obama's pressure. However, as expected, the pressure intensified, the Palestinians would not reciprocate and on November 25, 2009, Netanyahu was forced to accept a full freeze of Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria, while Arab construction crossed the charts.

Netanyahu's retreat adrenalized the veins of Team Obama, which stepped up the pressure, convincing Netanyahu to move the goal posts further, expanding the freeze to Jerusalem.

In September 1997, Palestinian terrorism exploded against the backdrop of the opening of the Western Wall Tunnel. Washington expected a heavy-handed Israeli response, but was astounded to witness a hand-in-hand Netanyahu-Arafat visit to Washington, DC. The 1997 Hebron and the 1998 Wye Accords, the willingness to refrain from construction in Har Homa and Ma'aleh Hazeitim (in Jerusalem) and to sweep under the carpet Abbas' hate-education and incitement, Holocaust denial and promotion of terrorism have further corroded the credibility of Jerusalem's red lines.

Will Prime Minister Netanyahu learn from past dramatic errors and their adverse impact upon Israel's strategic image? Will he substantiate the Washington Post May 2009 assumption that it takes a "Palestinian Fantasy" to assume that a US president can impose upon Israel critical concessions?

Will Netanyahu leverage his own unique intellectual and communications capabilities, Obama's political vulnerability and heavy constraints, the expected drastic changes on Capitol Hill and the awesome platforms of bi-partisan support of the Jewish State among Americans? Will he leverage the unique commitment to enhanced US-Israel strategic relations by Republicans and Democrats in Congress, which is equal in power to the President in shaping domestic and international policies?

Editorial: The disingenuous Nobel laureate

Israel can and must use its sovereignty to stop people like Maguire who are essentially seeking to endanger the lives of Israeli citizens.

The state wants Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead Corrigan-Maguire ejected from Israel.After permitting Maguire ample opportunity to make her case, the Central District Court ruled last week in the state’s favor and the Supreme Court on Monday appeared poised to do the same.

We applaud this stand – and not because of Maguire’s outrageous comparison in 2004 of Israel’s purported nuclear capability to Auschwitz’s gas chambers, nor because of her absurd, reprehensible accusation made in court Monday that Israel is an “apartheid state” perpetrating “ethnic cleansing against Palestinians.

”Rather, Maguire should be deported from Israel for undertaking actions that undermine Israel’s ability to protect itself.MAGUIRE, WHO at 32 was the youngest-ever peace prize winner when she received it in 1976 for working to end sectarian violence in her native Northern Ireland, was intending to lead a delegation called the Nobel Women’s Initiative that is visiting Israel and the West Bank between September 28 and October 5.Maguire is a woman with considerable merits who once acted courageously and peacefully to help end conflict in her own country.

But her actions on behalf of Palestinians has revealed a sorrowful dearth of moral sensibilities.She was first deported from Israel on September 30, 2009, after she took part in an attempt to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza. She and the other activists from the Free Gaza Movement attempted to forcibly prevent Israel from defending itself against Hamas-controlled Gaza via the blockade, which has never prevented the transferral of food, medicine and other necessities that cannot be turned into rockets, mortars or other deadly weapons and aimed at Israeli civilians.All humanitarian aid on board Maguire’s ship, the Arion, was promptly transferred to Gaza after a security check, as is all other humanitarian aid provided by foreigners to Gaza’s residents, along with truckloads of Israeli aid provided weekly.

When the Arion was stopped by the IDF, Maguire was notified that she would be forbidden to enter Israel for 10 years. Nevertheless, this June, a few days after the fateful Mavi Marmara interception, Maguire was once again on board a ship – the MV Rachel Corrie – attempting to violate Israel’s blockade of Gaza. Once again she was notified by Israeli officials that she was banned from entry for a decade.Yet last week Maguire ignored Israel’s sovereign right to decide who crosses its borders, insincerely claiming she did not know she was banned; she might have had the honesty to make plain that she refused to respect Israel’s sovereignty.If Maguire and her fellow activists truly desire to improve the lives of Gazans, they should send their humanitarian aid in coordination with Israel.

More importantly, they should put pressure on Hamas and the other radical Islamists who control the Gaza Strip to stop senseless ballistic attacks on Israeli towns and villages, kibbutzim and moshavim.They should also insist that Hamas provide Gaza’s citizens with a stable, responsible leadership that respects human rights and religious freedom, as well as that it accept the UN-recognized right of the Jewish people to self-determination and political sovereignty in their historical homeland.

But Maguire, who has called for Israel to be removed from the UN, seems more intent on enabling Israel’s terrorist enemies.

THIS NEWSPAPER has argued in the past that even the most rabid critics of Israel – such as Noam Chomsky, who was denied entry by Israel in May – should be allowed to come here to voice their opinions. We trust the ability of free-thinking, informed individuals to distinguish between baseless and credible narratives and claims.

But in Maguire’s case, the issue is different. Those who work to forcibly break the blockade on Gaza are essentially seeking to endanger the lives of Israeli citizens, by making it easier for Hamas to obtain the rockets and mortars it insistently fires into our territory.Israel can and must use its hard-earned and well-deserved sovereignty to stop people like Maguire – people who try to exploit charges of a “humanitarian crisis” in Gaza in order to empower Hamas terrorists.

Has Israeli intelligence struck again?

Iranian Intelligence Minister Heider Moslehi said Sunday that his country is under cyber attack, and blamed the United States and Israel. Iranian officials initially admitted that their country had been hit by the Stuxnet computer virus, but insisted that the damage was minimal.

Iran has been forced to push back the opening of the nuclear plant in Bushehr. Senior Information and Technology official Hamid Alipour admitted that while Iranian officials had hoped to clean up the virus in under two months, that hope had been proven unrealistic. “The virus is not stable, and since we started the cleanup process, three new versions have been spreading,” he said. Stuxnet hit Iran much harder than any other nation, affecting an estimated 62,000 systems.

A total of 100,000 computers are thought to have been hit with the virus worldwide. The virus was made to target software created by the German company Siemens; Iran relies heavily on Siemens systems. Israel has been among the top suspects in the creation of the Stuxnet worm, due both to Israeli opposition to Iran's unsupervised nuclear program, and to the complexity of the virus, which experts say could only have been created by a team with significant funding, resources and expertise.

Stuxnet is uniquely dangerous in that it can not only cause damage to a system, but can take control of facilities, producing physical, real-world results to an attack. The virus also studies its targets, determining which type of system it has entered before deciding whether or not to attack. To date, it has entered primarily systems that control critical infrastructure. Even the worm's discovery has not stopped its destructive power.

Attackers remain able to communicate with infected machines using peer-to-peer networking. A detailed analysis released by security firm Symantec revealed two clues that, according to Wired.com, may indicate Israeli involvement in the virus – or may indicate that another country is trying to implicate Israel in the attack. Two file directory names, “myrtus” and “guava,” could be a hint to the biblical Queen Esther, who intervened to save the Jewish people from destruction at the hands of a Persian king.

Persia is now known as Iran. Esther was also known as Hadassah, a name which means “myrtle” in Hebrew. Guavas are in the myrtle family of fruit. A second possible hint at Israeli involvement is the halt marker 19790509, a possible reference to the date May 9, 1979, when Iran executed Persian Jew Habib Elghanian, prompting the mass exodus of Iranian Jews from the newly Islamic state. The Symantec analysis was released in an attempt to get information on what, exactly, Stuxnet is targeting.

Do we have a new weapon of war?

Iran's intelligence minister said the country has learned how to fight off a complex computer worm that some foreign experts have speculated was designed to target Tehran's nuclear program, state television reported Saturday.
Heidar Moslehi was also quoted as saying authorities have arrested several nuclear spies, but he gave no details and it wasn't clear if the developments were related.

Over recent months, the malicious Stuxnet computer code has also affected industrial systems in India, Indonesia and the U.S. But it has spread the most in Iran, including to several personal computers of workers at Iran's first nuclear power plant, which is to go online later this year.

The destructive Stuxnet worm has surprised experts because it is the first one specifically created to take over industrial control systems, like those at power plants, rather than just steal or manipulate data.
Moslehi did not reveal where or when the suspected spies were arrested, saying only that Iran has "always faced sabotage" by foreign intelligence services.
Iran periodically announces the arrest of nuclear spies without giving details.

The state TV report did not carry any remarks from Moslehi linking the arrests with the investigation into the computer worm.
"Iran's intelligence department has found a solution for confronting (the worm) and it will be applied," he was quoted as saying. "Our domination of virtual networks has thwarted the activities of enemies in this regard."

A week ago, Iran said the stuxnet code was found on several laptops belonging to staff at the Bushehr nuclear power plant but that the plant's main systems were not affected.
The plant has stood outside the current controversy over Iran's nuclear program since Russia will be providing the fuel for the plant and supervising its disposal.

But other aspects of Iran's nuclear work, especially its enrichment of uranium, are of concern to the United States and other world powers. Enrichment can be used to produce weapons as well as make fuel for power plants. Iran says it only has peaceful nuclear aims, such as generating electricity.
Who created the Stuxnet code and what its precise target is, if any, remains a mystery.

The web security firm Symantec Corp. says the computer worm was likely spawned by a government or a well-funded private group. It was apparently constructed by a small team of as many as five to 10 highly educated and well-funded hackers, Symantec says.

Has Mossad found a way to steal and use a new weapon of war? Has Iran been put on the defensive and soon to be beaten?

War ends when one side permanently breaks its enemy’s ability and will to fight it. This has clearly not happened in Iran...........But!

There’s a new cyber-weapon on the block. And it’s a doozy. Stuxnet, a malicious software, or malware, program was apparently first discovered in June.Although it has appeared in India, Pakistan and Indonesia, Iran’s industrial complexes – including its nuclear installations – are its main victims.

Stuxnet operates as a computer worm. It is inserted into a computer system through a USB port rather than over the Internet, and is therefore capable of infiltrating networks that are not connected to the Internet.Hamid Alipour, deputy head of Iran’s Information Technology Company, told reporters Monday that the malware operated undetected in the country’s computer systems for about a year.

After it enters a network, this super-intelligent program figures out what it has penetrated and then decides whether or not to attack. The sorts of computer systems it enters are those that control critical infrastructures like power plants, refineries and other industrial targets.

Ralph Langner, a German computer security researcher who was among the first people to study Stuxnet, told various media outlets that after Stuxnet recognizes its specific target, it does something no other malware program has ever done. It takes control of the facility’s SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition system) and through it, is able to destroy the facility.

No other malware program has ever managed to move from cyberspace to the real world. And this is what makes Stuxnet so revolutionary. It is not a tool of industrial espionage. It is a weapon of war.

From what researchers have exposed so far, Stuxnet was designed to control computer systems produced by the German engineering giant Siemens. Over the past generation, Siemens engineering tools, including its industrial software, have been the backbone of Iran’s industrial and military infrastructure. Siemens computer software products are widely used in Iranian electricity plants, communication systems and military bases, and in the country’s Russian-built nuclear power plant at Bushehr.

The Iranian government has acknowledged a breach of the computer system at Bushehr. The plant was set to begin operating next month, but Iranian officials announced the opening would be pushed back several months due to the damage wrought by Stuxnet.

On Monday, Channel 2 reported that Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility was also infected by Stuxnet.On Tuesday, Alipour acknowledged that Stuxnet’s discovery has not mitigated its destructive power.As he put it, “We had anticipated that we could root out the virus within one to two months. But the virus is not stable and since we started the cleanup process, three new versions of it have been spreading.

”While so far no one has either taken responsibility for Stuxnet or been exposed as its developer, experts who have studied the program agree that its sophistication is so vast that it is highly unlikely a group of privately financed hackers developed it. Only a nation-state would have the financial, manpower and other resources necessary to develop and deploy Stuxnet, the experts argue.

Iran has pointed an accusatory finger at the US, Israel and India. So far, most analysts are pointing their fingers at Israel. Israeli officials, like their US counterparts, are remaining silent on the subject.

While news of a debilitating attack on Iran’s nuclear installations is a cause for celebration, at this point, we simply do not know enough about what has happened and what is continuing to happen at Iran’s nuclear installations to make any reasoned evaluation about Stuxnet’s success or failure. Indeed, The New York Times has argued that since Stuxnet worms were found in Siemens software in India, Pakistan and Indonesia as well as Iran, reporting, “The most striking aspect of the fast-spreading malicious computer program... may not have been how sophisticated it was, but rather how sloppy its creators were in letting a specifically aimed attack scatter randomly around the globe.

”ALL THAT we know for certain is that Stuxnet is a weapon and it is currently being used to wage a battle. We don’t know if Israel is involved in the battle or not. And if Israel is a side in the battle, we don’t know if we’re winning or not.But still, even in our ignorance about the details of this battle, we still know enough to draw a number of lessons from what is happening.

Stuxnet’s first lesson is that it is essential to be a leader rather than a follower in technology development. The first to deploy new technologies on a battlefield has an enormous advantage over his rivals. Indeed, that advantage may be enough to win a war.But from the first lesson, a second immediately follows.

A monopoly in a new weapon system is always fleeting. The US nuclear monopoly at the end of World War II allowed it to defeat Imperial Japan and bring the war to an end in allied victory.Once the US exposed its nuclear arsenal, however, the Soviet Union’s race to acquire nuclear weapons of its own began. Just four years after the US used its nuclear weapons, it found itself in a nuclear arms race with the Soviets.

America’s possession of nuclear weapons did not shield it from the threat of their destructive power.The risks of proliferation are the flipside to the advantage of deploying new technology. Warning of the new risks presented by Stuxnet, Melissa Hathaway, a former US national cybersecurity coordinator, told the Times, “Proliferation is a real problem, and no country is prepared to deal with it. All of these [computer security] guys are scared to death. We have about 90 days to fix this [new vulnerability] before some hacker begins using it.”Then there is the asymmetry of vulnerability to cyberweapons.

A cyberweapon like Stuxnet threatens nation-states much more than it threatens a non-state actor that could deploy it in the future. For instance, a cyber-attack of the level of Stuxnet against the likes of Hizbullah or al-Qaida by a state like Israel or the US would cause these groups far less damage than a Hizbullah or al-Qaida cyber-attack of the quality of Stuxnet launched against a developed country like Israel or the US.In short, like every other major new weapons system introduced since the slingshot, Stuxnet creates new strengths as well as new vulnerabilities for the states that may wield it.

As to the battle raging today in Iran’s nuclear facilities, even if the most optimistic scenario is true, and Stuxnet has crippled Iran’s nuclear installations, we must recognize that while a critical battle was won, the war is far from over.A war ends when one side permanently breaks its enemy’s ability and will to fight it. This has clearly not happened in Iran.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made it manifestly clear during his visit to the US last week that he is intensifying, not moderating, his offensive stance towards the US, Israel and the rest of the free world. Indeed, as IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Benny Ganz noted last week, “Iran is involved up to its neck in every terrorist activity in the Middle East.”So even in the rosiest scenario, Israel or some other government has just neutralized one threat – albeit an enormous threat – among a panoply of threats that Iran poses. And we can be absolutely certain that Iran will take whatever steps are necessary to develop new ways to threaten Israel and its other foes as quickly as possible.

What this tells us is that if Stuxnet is an Israeli weapon, while a great achievement, it is not a revolutionary weapon. While the tendency to believe that we have found a silver bullet is great, the fact is that fielding a weapon like Stuxnet does not fundamentally change Israel’s strategic position. And consequently, it should have no impact on Israel’s strategic doctrine.In all likelihood, assuming that Stuxnet has significantly debilitated Iran’s nuclear installations, this achievement will be a one-off. Just as the Arabs learned the lessons of their defeat in 1967 and implemented those lessons to great effect in the war in 1973, so the Iranians – and the rest of Israel’s enemies – will learn the lessons of Stuxnet.

SO IF we assume that Stuxnet is an Israeli weapon, what does it show us about Israel’s position vis-à-vis its enemies? What Stuxnet shows is that Israel has managed to maintain its technological advantage over its enemies. And this is a great relief. Israel has survived since 1948 despite our enemies’ unmitigated desire to destroy us because we have continuously adapted our tactical advantages to stay one step ahead of them. It is this adaptive capability that has allowed Israel to win a series of one-off battles that have allowed it to survive.But again, none of these one-off battles were strategic game-changers.

None of them have fundamentally changed the strategic realities of the region. This is the case because they have neither impacted our enemies’ strategic aspiration to destroy us, nor have they mitigated Israel’s strategic vulnerabilities. It is the unchanging nature of these vulnerabilities since the dawn of modern Zionism that gives hope to our foes that they may one day win and should therefore keep fighting.

Israel has two basic strategic vulnerabilities.The first is Israel’s geographic minuteness, which attracts invaders. The second vulnerability is Israel’s political weakness both at home and abroad, which make it impossible to fight long wars.Attentive to these vulnerabilities, David Ben- Gurion asserted that Israel’s military doctrine is the twofold goal to fight wars on our enemies’ territory and to end them as swiftly and as decisively as possible. This doctrine remains the only realistic option today, even if Stuxnet is in our arsenal.It is important to point this plain truth out today as the excitement builds about Stuxnet, because Israel’s leaders have a history of mistaking tactical innovation and advantage with strategic transformation.

It was our leaders’ failure to properly recognize what happened in 1967 for the momentary tactical advantage it was that led us to near disaster in 1973.Since 1993, our leaders have consistently mistaken their adoption of the West’s land-forpeace paradigm as a strategic response to Israel’s political vulnerability. The fact that the international assault on Israel’s right to exist has only escalated since Israel embraced the landfor- peace paradigm is proof that our leaders were wrong. Adopting the political narrative of our enemies did not increase Israel’s political fortunes in Europe, the US or the UN.

So, too, our leaders have mistaken Israel’s air superiority for a strategic answer to its geographical vulnerability. The missile campaigns the Palestinians and Lebanese have waged against the home front in the aftermath of Israel’s withdrawals from Gaza and south Lebanon show clearly that air supremacy does not make up for geographic vulnerability.

It certainly does not support a view that strategic depth is less important than it once was.We may never know if Stuxnet was successful or if Stuxnet is Israeli. But what we do know is that we cannot afford to learn the wrong lessons from its achievements..

In some subtle and quiet ways Barak Hussine Obama "has it made" geo-politically with Iran. The US will never need to attack Iran's strategic capabilities and facilities, Eretz Israel will do it for him. "Merka's" and the EU's "geo-political hands" will be unsullied with blood.

Some strategic observers already claim IDF has overflight permissions from several Arab nations if a strike is deemed necessary. Any IDF strategic attack on Iran will be multi-dimensial. In fact many opine it has already. A computer worm (stuxnet) introduced to many of the computer systems at Bushehr (one of Iran's nuclear facilities" and is fully capable of taking over entire generation systems and plants.

It must be remembered an IDF strategic assault on Iran would include strategic air assets as well cruise missile systems launched from already deployed submarines in "the Gulf" (Dolphin Class, German made)...As well as tactical assets, and covert operations.

But appeasement is NOT an option for Eretz Israel nor Jewry world-wide.
Since Harry Truman led the world in recognizing the State of Israel, the United States has been its staunchest ally. Through decades of wars and near-death experiences, America has stood by Israel with military, diplomatic and financial support.
Over the last year, however, tensions have emerged between Washington and Jerusalem. Frustrated by the lack of any meaningful progress in bringing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to a close, the United States has pressured Israel to stop any further development on Palestinian lands, a source of tremendous friction for Arabs on the streets and their governments trying to maintain fragile stability.

The message from the American Government has been clear: restart face-to-face negotiations with the Palestinians.

This pressure has come as a shock to the Israeli political establishment. During the George W. Bush years, American policy had tilted away from the honest-broker posture of past Republican and Democratic administrations to a noticeable pro-Israel bias.

The prospects for a lasting peace moved farther and farther into the future as Palestinians felt abandoned by the historic American referee that had guaranteed them over decades of negotiations a fair deal, while the Israeli government felt no urgency to end the conflict.
With a new administration in the White House, American policy in the region over the last year has focused on simultaneously pressuring for a final peace accord, while grappling with the other strategic flashpoint in the region: Iran.

The United States has sought to stop Iran's illegal nuclear ambitions initially with the open hand of diplomacy, which led to more tactical delays from Tehran and further violations of existing U.N. resolutions, and now with a new round of United Nations, European Union and U.S. sanctions.
But the prospect of a nuclear Iran, an Iran determined to be the regional superpower that threatens Israel while dominating its Arab neighbors, has once again brought the U.S. and Israel into strategic confluence.

Recently President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met at the White House for private talks and a public show of solidarity. The usual vows of an unbreakable alliance where uttered for the global media.
More interesting, and unknowable outside of the top reaches of the American and Israeli governments, is what was discussed behind closed doors.
Israel has stated in the past that it will not wait indefinitely to respond - read unilateral military strike - to what it sees as Iran's hostile intent in developing illegal nuclear weapons capability.

Israelis rightly see a nuclear Iran as an existential threat - a threat repeated over and over again by the Islamic Republic's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, an avowed Holocaust-denier.
The U.S. has also said that it will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. The stage is therefore set for a confrontation with Iran.

Mounting evidence of Iranian illegal weapons nuclear development is now the overarching strategic consideration facing the United States in the region. At stake is Israel's security, of course, but also the security of Iran's other traditional regional rivals - the largely Arab Sunni states on its periphery.
Moreover, Iran's provocative testing of long-range ballistic missiles is now putting NATO countries within reach of a potentially nuclear armed Iran.
Some have argued that the Cold War-era Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD) doctrine would contain Iran. That is a big assumption - specially in light of the Iranian regime's ideology.

Like fundamentalists in all religions, who are driven by a fanaticism that will supposedly get them closer to their god, the martyr tradition of the Shia is a powerful ideology that distorts traditional notions of realpolitik.
In contrast, the Soviets' drive for world domination was largely the mission of atheists, rationalist men who calculated risks and rewards in the context of winning battles in this world - not in heaven. Mutual Assured Destruction is the ultimate rationalist argument against nuclear war. And it has worked.

The founder of the Islamic Republic famously differentiated his messianic mission from the actual nation of Iran. Ayatollah Khomeini said, "We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land [Iran] burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world."

In another glimpse at his world view, Khomeini said, "This regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time."
These are not the thoughts of a rationalist who will be deterred by concepts of mutually assured destruction or even the asymmetric risk of conflagration at the hands of the world's superpower.

Besides funding and arming terrorist organizations Hezbollah and Hamas on Israel's borders, Iran showed its true intent in the slaughter of Argentine Jews in a terrorist attack against a community center in Buenos Aires in 1994. Two years earlier, the Israeli Embassy in Argentina was destroyed by a car bomb. Argentine investigators have tracked the source of the attacks all the way to Tehran.
And clearly Khomeini's ideology drives the current crop of the Islamic Republic's leaders. They have not only threatened us and our allies with words - in fact, they have projected military power into Iraq, attacking U.S. soldiers through proxies, provided the matériel for the missiles raining on Israeli villages, and have sought advanced military technologies from Russia and North Korea.
They are at this moment arming themselves for war.

Ignoring this objective reality is as foolish as it is dangerous.
So what to do? From many corners of the Washington establishment we hear that military strikes will not be effective against Iran. The skill with which the Iranians have spread their nuclear program, the hardening of sites and the redundancy supposedly built into the system makes an attack a huge gamble.

As historian Barbara Tuchman observed, "War is the unfolding of miscalculations." Can we be sure that a preemptive attack will deliver a sufficient blow to stop for decades, if not forever, Iran's nuclear weapons program? No.
But we can be sure that once Iran acquires nuclear strike capability it will permanently be a significant threat to the U.S., our allies in the Middle East, Europe and beyond.

Winston Churchill's warnings about the rising menace beyond the Rhine seem as relevant today as they did in the 1930's: "One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger."

I would also like to make a prediction ....President Obama is but a one term President. He is already an abject failure as America's first African American President. Recent polls show his "favourables" at 38 %, and many pundits opine he will mirror President Johnson whereas he will NOT seek the Democratic nomination for a second term in office...Hillary Clinton may well have, "her shot" four years early.

In a world where even third rate powers like France have nuclear weapons for nothing more than perceived prestige...Israel will ensure its survival and that of Jewry world-wide with a pre-emptive strike......

The construction freeze is taking center stage in the Israel-PA talks, but what about the PA's refusal to agree that Israel remain a Jewish state?
Israel, the Palestinian Authority, and the U.S. are continuing negotiations for another week to see if a way can be found to have the PA accept Israel’s renewal of construction for its 320,000 citizens in Judea and Samaria. Largely overlooked, however, is the refusal of Mahmoud Abbas and fellow PA negotiators to accept Israel as a Jewish state.

Just last week, PA prime minister Salam Fayyad attempted to officially sum up a meeting of a UN committee by writing the phrase “two states,” without specifying that these were “two states for two peoples.” Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon refused to approve this summary, and Fayyad walked out in anger.Ayalon explained afterwards: “If the Palestinians are not willing to talk about two states for two peoples, let alone a Jewish state for Israel, then there’s nothing to talk about… If their intention at the end of the process is to have one Palestinian state and one bi-national state, this will not happen.”

"I'm talking about essence.”This is because the question of whether Israel is a “Jewish” state or not will ultimately decide whether Israel is morally bound to accept the Arab demand for the so-called “right of return” – meaning the flooding of Israel with hundreds of thousands of Arabs that could double the Israeli-Arab population and turn the country into a bi-national state.If the Arabs recognize Israel as a Jewish state, which they have never done, this will enable Israel to reject the “right of return” – a position that has been in near-absolute Israeli consensus for generations.Left-Wing Waffling on Right of Return Of late, however, even that has begun to change. Left-wing commentator Akiva Eldar writes in Haaretz this week that Netanyahu's demand that the PA must first recognize Israel as the state of the Jewish people is nothing less than a “bombshell.”

An article in Great Britain’s Guardian entitled “Israel's unreasonable demand” says that for Israel to be a Jewish state clashes with its claim that it is democratic.“Moreover,” the article continues, “by forcing the Palestinian Authority to recognize the state's ‘Jewishness,’ Israel is obliging the Palestinians to recognize a system in which Israel's Arab citizens are second class.”

Actually, however, Arabs in Israel have more rights than do many Palestinians in Arab countries. Palestinians in Lebanon, for instance, have been banned from most work permits for decades.

Balfour Declaration, San Remo: Israel to be "Jewish National Home"The Balfour Declaration of 1917, the modern international legal basis for the establishment of the State of Israel, makes it clear that Israel is to be a national home for the Jewish people. The declaration also states that “nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine” – but nothing about any “national” rights of said communities.

Less than three years later, at the San Remo Conference, the three leading post-World War One European powers (Great Britain, France and Italy) and Japan agreed that the Balfour Declaration must be implemented, and once again called for “the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.” This call, too, said that “nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine,” again saying nothing about “national” rights.

So as you can see, there are two very different sets of rules in the post Diaspora world, one set of anti-Semitic rules for Jews and rules for the rest of the world. Despite recent change in tone, rhetoric and conduct by President Obama toward Israel and its prime minister, most Israelis do not trust this new act and perceive Obama to be the most pro Palestinian, Pro-Arab, and Pro-Muslim American president ever, lacking a basic commitment or even sympathy to the Jewish state.

It seems that Obama’s sudden “change of heart” toward Israel is not the result of rediscovered love, but rather, fear of losing the Jewish vote and financial backing in the upcoming elections.

In 2008, 78% of US Jews voted for Obama and were responsible for a third of total financial donations to the Democratic Party.

However, in an August 2010 Pew Research Center report, the number of Jews who identify themselves as Democrats or leaning Democrat has decreased to 60%. At the same time, the number of Jews who identify themselves as Republicans or as Independents who lean Republican has increased by more than half since the year Obama was elected, the highest change among all religious groups.
While in 2008 the ratio of Democrat vs. Republican Jews was far more than 3 to 1, now it is less than 2 to. The New York Times, in an op-ed titled “Oy-Vey Obama,” explained the decline by stating that ”Obama is burning bridges with the Jewish community in order to build bridges to the Muslim world.“
In the upcoming November elections, Jews must take a strong stand and not vote for any Democratic candidate, as a strong message to Obama and the Democratic party that Jews should never be taken for granted again, and that being pro-Israel is still an important factor for Jewish voters.

Two Gallup polls taken in February 2010 suggest that the American public is becoming increasingly divided by party lines on its view of Israel. While sympathy for Israel is increasing among Republicans and Independents, it has been declining among Democrats. One poll found that 85% of Republicans and 48%of Democrats support Israel more than the.
A separate Gallop poll showed that while Israel’s favorability ratings remain high in the aggregate (67%), when broken down by party, 80% of Republicans and 53% of Democrats hold favorable ratings.

One-term president?
The evidence also shows that support of Israel is a swing issue for many Jewish voters. When the Jewish community judges a candidate to be distinctly problematic on Israel, it will desert that candidate or his party in decisive numbers whether he is a Democrat or Republican.

Many Jewish liberals abandoned President Carter in the 1980 elections when he was viewed as favoring Arab interests at Israel's expense. Carter was left with a mere 45% of the Jewish vote, the first democratic president in 60 years not to win a majority of the Jewish vote; meanwhile, the pro-Israel Ronald Reagan won 39% of the Jewish vote.

In 1992, after President Bush Sr. angered American Jewry when he threatened to deny Israel much-needed loan guarantees to help absorb Soviet Jews, he was left with a mere 10% of the Jewish vote, down from the 27% he received in 1988.

Many other Jews in the Diaspora, in England, Canada and Australia, have already moved rightward, voting for conservative parties when they became dissatisfied with liberal politicians who showed animosity to Israel. In those countries the Jewish vote is now divided between the camps.

Now, American Jews have to decide what their swing issue is. Many Jews will still choose their traditional liberalism and will vote again for any Democrat, resistant to any facts that undermine their long held beliefs. But we need as many Jews as possible to choose Israel as their main concern and to turn away from the Democratic party as a warning to Obama not to sacrifice Israel‘s security and survival in his two remaining years in office.

If Obama continues to mirror the failed policies of the Carter presidency, hopefully he too will end up as a one-term president.

Guy Bechor is a well-informed analyst of Middle East affairs. As a journalist his articles normally reflect a far more down-to-earth comprehension of regional realities than many of his mainstream media colleagues. This is perhaps what makes his recent column Is Hamas takeover so bad? - in which he advocates letting the "West Bank" fall to the Hamas- so disturbing.

Uncharacteristic of Bechor's usually sober assessments, it is a piece that is marred by unrealistic optimism, astonishing short-sightedness and highly-constricted tunnel-vision.
Bechor is of course correct in noting that "Israel would never be able to live with the Palestinian Authority’s demands" and that today the "Palestinian Authority…is perceived as the 'good guys'…(while) Hamas is considered a terrorist and part of the 'bad guys'.”

However, virtually all subsequent inferences he makes and conclusions he draws from this observation are wildly off-track.

Thus, when Bechor claims that if the Hamas took over Judea and Samaria "The international pressure exerted on Israel would be eased and even disappear, as nobody wishes to grant a state to terrorists,” one can only wonder whether he has succumbed to terminal amnesia or has merely neglected to follow the news.

Indeed, in the case of the Palestinians, the pejorative designation of "terrorist" is alarmingly transitory. After all, the entire Oslo process was launched with "terrorists." The PLO was formally designated as a terror organization until the early ‘90s, and only permitted to open a Mission Office in Washington in 1994 after the signature of Declaration of Principles on the White House Lawn - despite the fact that it had merely outsourced its murderous activities to its violent affiliates.

This clearly indicates that widespread international reticence in dealing with "terrorists" is not something that can be taken for granted - certainly not for any length of time. Indeed, the PLO was "sanitized" largely due to efforts by prominent Israelis. Bechor would do well to keep this in mind, for familiar-sounding voices are being raised today by a growing chorus of influential figures in the US, in the EU…and in Israel, calling for "engagement" with the Hamas.

The trouble with Gaza Moreover, given the severe worldwide censure that Israel has been subjected to over its policy toward Hamas-governed Gaza, one can only wonder on what Bechor bases his astonishing claim that if Hamas was to govern Judea and Samaria "international pressure exerted on Israel would be eased and even disappear."

No less astounding is Bechor's rhetorical question:" What’s so bad about the new situation created in the Gaza Strip...?"Well, setting aside the "small detail" of the lasting damage to the moral fiber of the nation and the grotesque degradation of the Zionist ethos involved in the senseless and futile uprooting any vestige of Jewish presence, how about this for starters: Thousands of rockets and mortar shells that have rained down on civilian population centers for years!?
Indeed only poor aim on the part of the Palestinians and the sparse target-density in the arid expanses bordering the Gaza Strip have prevented these bombardments from being catastrophic.

Bechor's facile formula for dealing with this future possibility is: "If they fire at us from there, we fire back at them." Well, last time we "fired back at them" - after eight years of them firing at us - in Operation Cast Lead the result was the Goldstone Report and enormous damage to Israel's international standing, making future retaliation far more problematic and international punitive measures more likely. Can all of this have escaped Bechor's attention?

But even if Israel decided to shrug off international condemnation and risk global censure and sanction, there are huge differences - in terms of geographical extent, topographical structure and strategic significance - between the ramifications of a Hamas takeover of Judea and Samaria, and those of a Hamas-ruled Gaza:

• The length of Israel's frontier with the Gaza Strip is a little over 50 kilometers; that of the "West Bank is about 300 kilometers long (and longer if it is to include the large settlement blocs as Bechor envisages.)
• The Gaza border abuts a relatively remote and sparsely-populated portion of the country. The "West Bank" frontier would run barely a mile from the national parliament, along the very fringes of Israel's most populous areas in the coastal metropolis, adjacent to the perimeter of Ben Gurion Airport and to large sections of the Trans-Israel highway.
• While the Gaza strip is generally low-lying flatlands and contains no water resources that impact on Israeli supply, the "West Bank" is an elevated mountain ridge that commands much of Israel's vital infrastructures (both civilian and military), crucial water resources, major urban population centers and commercial hubs.

Radical Islamic stateHamas would not have to rain down hundreds of rockets on Israel to paralyze the nation's social and economic routine. A few sporadic firings every now and then would be sufficient for that. In fact, the mere threat of bombardment (even if inaccurate) would bring about a disastrous disruption of air traffic to Israel and catastrophic cessation of tourism.
However, this would hardly constitute an internationally credible "smoking gun" to justify massive Israel retaliation along a front several hundred kilometers long in difficult terrain - especially if the Hamas regime could claim plausible deniability by placing the blame on radical renegades.

According to Bechor, ensconcing the Hamas in will ensure "there is a master of the house there that can be presented with demands." Well, we saw how splendidly that worked in Gaza - especially with Gilad Shalit

But perhaps the most worrying aspect of Bechor's analysis is the illusion that his suggested scenario would somehow exempt Israel from the burden of securing the nation. He proposes that "Israel would…allow free passage between the Hamas principality and Jordan. This would provide the Islamic principality with an outlet to the world, via Jordan, which would have to assume the burden just as Egypt did in Gaza."
So Bechor finds the situation in Gaza - which has been flooded by weapons since the disengagement - a model to emulate? It should be remembered that unlike Egypt Jordan has a Palestinian majority. Thus, being perceived as the "Zionist's warder" of a "Palestinian prison" may destabilize the current regime, either forcing it into far-reaching concessions to the Islamist elements or even surrendering power completely. So rather than an isolated "principality," what we may get is a radical Islamist state stretching from the Iraqi border in the east to suburban Israel in the west.

In the area just between Sherwood Park and the outskirts of Edmonton there were discovered about, twenty shallow graves of injun prostitutes. It is a very good bet that there are many many others. Well Christine and or Carmen, I suspect you will read this epistle long after your visit to Edmonton and Lori's departure from the employ of American Eagle Outfitters. When Christine about a week ago asked Lori, "what would it take for you stay with American Eagle", Lori and I wondered if it was merely a "pro forma" or the requisite polite yet meaningless question said by polite people in situations like this one. So in the event question was genuine, here is a reasonable answer.

Lori has worked for AE for twenty years and the success and efficiency of store has always been of paramount importance to her. For successive store and district managers Lori has essentially been the lead stock or administrative assistant to management. She always received shipment, reported stock levels to Connie Holmes and others at head office. Lori always had a usefully cordial good relationship with the delivery people. Inventory always went more smoothly because Lori is one of the anal personalities that likes this sort of numbing tedious yet must be absolutely accurate sort of work.

Lori has for years done the supply order , used "the gun", and relieved management personnel of work and responsibility so they could...manage, sell and make the store as successful as it has been all these years. There is a written long term record of Lori's excellent and efficient service in the store records. So Ms. Snyder's and Mr. Caron's "claims" of "sub-standard performance" are prevarications and fraud.

Mr. Caron has not yet learned what all previous store managers at West Edmonton Mall knew, you can not manage a retail store like American Eagle from the office, you manage from floor. You deal with the daily mechanics of retailing clothing and managing a staff from a position of leadership, showing how it is done and dealing with the issues staff can not from the very front of the sales floor. Example leadership and accessibility is everything. Carl can not manage this store by enlarging the managers office and eliminating the marketing room...and spending his days there.

This is indeed a happenstance where what is best for Lori is also what is very best for the store... let her do her job. From the first day Samara and Carl came to the store they decided to manage the store from the office. They immediately relieved Lori of her duties the very first day and consolidated them with Carl , because he does not want to, or can not deal with the daily issues of retailing on the sales floor.

In all previous years there has never been a problem regarding housekeeping or stock or "backroom issues" . There was never a problem regarding the administration of the "backroom", nor were staff quitting due to management...until now. Supply orders are being fouled up, relations with delivery people are deteriorating, staff levels are low and the Christmas selling season is nigh. Carl Caron's English Language skills may be a problem because he is having others talk to people on the phone for him and some callers have hung up on him because he could not be understood.

Let Lori do her job! She has done it well for years. If she can run the "backroom" and have some authority to do so...it will take some of the onus off management so they can manage and sell. She has done just that for years.

It is evident that current district and store management requires some assistance and the benefit of a learning curve, after all, de facto this store is American Eagle's flagship . Lori doing her, being permitted and having some authority to do, to resume doing that job would go a long way to solving the problem with the West Edmonton Mall store .

And it would go a very long way to resume the job satisfaction and happiness Lori always had here at work for AE. The pathetic fraud that the Personal Improvement Plan and sixty days notice of termination must also be quashed but expunged from her record. After all her twenty years service essentially all she has is her good name and reputation and that has been destroyed by Ms. Snyder and Mr. Caron by their fraud and criminal slander.

Store and district managers have come and gone at AE West Edmonton Mall but Lori Ink and her excellent written record of honesty and efficiency has been constant. Realizing that my tongue is firmly in cheek if Lori were to stay at AE...it might not be too late for her join her sisters in Vegas in October.

You have significant problems at the West Ed store...but Lori is not the problem ....she is indeed a large part of the solution.

In the 1980's the Canadian Federal Government transferred control of the education systems on reserves to local "tribal governments" . Today 50 tribal chiefs and "Grand Chief" Shawn Atelo are in New York for "First Nation's Education Week at the United Nations. They claim that "first nations" schools in Canada are under-funded by 2 billion dollars, when per student funding for injun students per capita is equal to white students and school boards .

The point is: education funds to Indian "school boards" is compatible to "mainstream" school boards in Canada.... Canada's First Nations University failed because "Indian chiefs" were diverting funds for post secondary institutions for personal use. This happening throughout all entire "first nations" communities.

That is because: "first nations" systems of governance and cultures are un-evolved for thousands of years. "First Nations" have higher percentages of poverty, domestic abuse, it is statistically more probable that a Injun teenager will be incarcerated that graduate High School. That is the fault and problem of Indian society and culture simply failing...than is the fault of the "whites" or mainstream Canadian society.

Canada's "first nations" are NOT nations, their cultures and systems of governance have not evolved, changed or adapted and as unsuccessful animal species' they will disappear in time.

I spend several months each year in Israel and derive a significant portion of my income from work I publish there.

Precisely 10 years ago, soon after Yasser Arafat had doomed Ehud Barak’s peacemaking effort at Camp David, Ariel Sharon paid a politically and religiously loaded visit to the Temple Mount.Sharon did not use the opportunity to lambaste Arafat. He did not issue anti- Islamic remarks. He did not enter the Muslim holy shrines. What he did, by his presence, was assert Israeli authority over, and Jewish connection to, the holiest area in Judaism.

In truth, Sharon’s visit was aimed primarily at his own electorate. It was calculated to signal to the Israeli public that while that appallingly dovish Ehud Barak might be ready to surrender parts of Jerusalem, the then-still-hawkish opposition leader would never countenance such capitulation.But for Arafat, it constituted a golden opportunity. The Palestinian leadership had spent the weeks after Camp David desperately trying to convince the international community that the failure was a consequence of Israeli inflexibility rather than Arafat’s intransigence – without much success.

President Bill Clinton, the summit’s host, knew exactly who was to blame – he would later identity Yasser Arafat as the culprit in his memoirs – and the Palestinians were on the defensive.Then along came the pre-disengagement, still globally loathed Sharon. And as Arafat’s murderous West Bank henchman Marwan Barghouti made clear, the Palestinian leadership realized that this most contentious figure’s visit to that most incendiary of sites – location, too, of the third holiest shrine in Islam – must not be allowed to pass quietly.

Sharon, as Barghouti put it, was “a hated man,” and his Temple Mount walkabout was the perfect pretext to trigger the eruption of purported spontaneous protest the Palestinian leadership had been planning.“Palestinians did not approve of the peace process in its previous form,” Barghouti elaborated in subsequent interviews.“The explosion would have happened anyway. It was necessary in order to protect Palestinian rights. But Sharon provided a good excuse.”

A DECADE has passed since that orchestrated “explosion” marked the start of the misnamed second “intifada” – which was not a “popular uprising” at all, but rather a strategic effort to attain through terrorism the maximalist demands that Arafat had refused to relinquish at the negotiating table.

Ten years later, there are many in the international community who seem to have forgotten how uniquely horrific that deliberate resort to terrorism turned out to be for Israelis. Ostensibly baffled by Israelis’ caution, skepticism or outright derision regarding the current Palestinian leadership’s peacemaking credentials and intentions, some of those who did not live through those years of terror conveniently underestimate the lingering trauma and now presume to lecture us about the need for optimism and risk-taking.

The Israelis of 2010 revel in a reality in which security guards no longer look all that closely into our shopping bags or under our sweaters for bombs when we enter malls and restaurants. We delight in the fact that we can take our children on buses and buy vegetables in outdoor markets without constantly eyeing the people around us for signs that they might be about to detonate explosives hidden around their waists and send us all to Kingdom Come. We have gradually relaxed in the knowledge, born out of several years of relative calm since we mercifully built the security barrier, that day-to-day life here is no longer quite the grisly lottery of the early years of this decade, and that even murderous killings on the roads of the West Bank are fairly intermittent rather than routine.

More foolish commentators, including some who have presumably bought into that Arafat-led effort to falsely depict Israel as the serial derailer of peace efforts, have lately taken to mis-portraying this tentative Israeli embrace of something akin to blessed normality. They cite it, perniciously, as evidence that we are no longer interested in a permanent accommodation with the Palestinians. Time magazine’s now notorious assertion, in a cover story earlier this month, that “Israel doesn’t care about peace” – that we are “otherwise engaged... making money... enjoying the rays of late summer... [and] have moved on” – is a particularly risible such misrepresentation.HOW IGNORANT are such commentators of our mindset. How stupid do they take Israelis to be?

How can we possibly have “moved on”? We, who live in a country surrounded by hostility. We, who send our children off to the army, knowing that they will truly be risking their lives for so long as we are unable to achieve normalized ties with the Palestinians and those numerous other nations, led by Iran, that are determined to wipe us out. We, who do not for a moment mistake this current, all-too fragile calm for a sustainable reality of peace.

We, who have watched Hizbullah and Hamas rearm with rockets that can reach over any fence and now hit any target in the country.We, finally, who have not forgotten the mangled, smoking buses, the smashed restaurant windows and ceilings, the orphaned baby strollers, children’s shoes and school satchels in the aftermath of bomb blasts. The pools of blood and the scattered chunks of human flesh. The more than 1,000 families torn apart, never to recover.

OUR VERY existence depends on the processes now playing out behind closed doors in Washington, Sharm e-Sheikh and Jerusalem.And our ostensible new partner may be no terror-fostering Arafat, but he has thus far chosen not to energetically champion, to his own people, the cause of compromise with ours. We wish that he had done so; we will not blind ourselves to the fact that he has not.Mahmoud Abbas has yet to acknowledge the right of the Jewish people to this sovereign state in our historic homeland. He declares, on the one hand, that he seeks to work with us for peace, but vows, on the other, that he will not countenance “even one concession” on the vexed, disputed issues where compromise is central to any viable accord.Is this the climate in which our prime minister, now a repeated advocate of Palestinian statehood, should agree to extend the settlement freeze he reluctantly introduced last November?

Would this discredit him politically, and represent a counterproductive concession to that declaredly intransigent, noncompromising Abbas? Or would it demonstrate, again, the positive intent Netanyahu showed 10 months ago, and thus, perhaps, this time, improve the climate in talks we hope fervently will produce a sustainable peace? The way forward, in a climate of mutual goodwill, would lie in the middle ground between these two questions: Is it not an Israeli interest in any case to extend the freeze in areas where we do not envisage expanding sovereignty? And why would Abbas have a problem with Israel building in areas he knows it will retain?

WE HAVE wrenching decisions to make, under a prime minister who sounds more conciliatory week by week and is better positioned politically than any of his recent would-be peacemaking predecessors to bring the overwhelming majority of his people along with him.

Abbas, it would seem, has a longer road to travel. We urge him, simply, to take it.By eerie coincidence, this latest negotiating effort is gathering pace exactly 10 years after the outbreak of the terror war marked the end of the last one.

Our unbearable second intifada losses constitute terrible evidence of the potential costs of new missteps. We know it could be worse still, next time. But those losses also underline the extraordinary potential benefits if, this time, the Palestinians truly want to find a way forward with us.Nobody needs to remind Israelis about any of this – not about the costs, not about the benefits. And nobody should have the gall to tell us we don’t care about peace. Our lives are at stake.

American Eagle Outfitters a large retail chain is looking for the rapidly improving economic outlook and Canadian consumer confidence to ensure the survival of American Eagle Outfitters and to turn a profit back home "stateside". But alas here at their "flagship" Canadian store in Alberta at West Edmonton Mall, the store manager Carl Caron is incompetent, has sub-standard English language skills, is more concerned about "paperwork" than the daily lands-on mechanics of managing a retail clothing outlet and is rapidly losing most of his staff.

In the short time Mr. Caron (about sixty days) minors, non-management under eight-teen years of age children have been entrusted with store keys and key-cards, long serving employees have been fired for "gossip", merely because Jo Anne Hennig informed head office about pay discrepancies totaling several hundred of dollars. A few days ago four employees resigned effective immediately to make the point that store management was incompetent.

I have a twenty plus year written record of excellent performance appraisals until this last month when store Manager Carl Carl had committed criminal fraud by writing and instituting a "personal improvement plan" and after writing it he and District Manager Samera Snyder ignored American Eagle policies and procedures by giving me sixty days"notice of termination for NO reason other than his personal animus and taking offense to my hours of employ and accumulated vacation time.

Mr. Caron and Ms. Snyder would have senior management believe that after roughly short sixty days my twenty plus year written record of excellent performance is now as they prevaricated ...."ongoing sub-standard performance". That is fraud, and begs the question, why are they doing this?

In the last sixty days they accused JoAnne Hennig and myself with undisclosed and obviously unsubstantiated accusations of racism. I was accused of using the term ..."Asian" and was told some American executive named Denis was "outraged and offended" by this "crime".

In the last sixty days my "personal improvement plan" and report says " I am responsible for plugged toilets because I did did not inform management there was no toilet paper. One week I ""replenned the floor too fast" and next week's report said, "I replenned the floor too slow."

The store management of this store, Carl Caron and the District Manager, Samara Snyder are simply too new, too inexperienced, obviously too dishonest and too incompetent to remain at their positions. American Eagle senior management need to examine the situation here in Edmonton before too many sales and consumer confidence is lost in this market.

Currently American Eagle Outfitters West Edmonton Mall is severely short staffed and the second most important selling season (back to school) has ended, the Christmas selling season is soon to begin and and staffing levels are getting worse, more people are leaving, long serving excellent people have been defrauded and fired and or pushed out the door. That is NOT "going in a new direction," nor "change"... that is incompetence.

I have been doing management duties, receiving shipment, "using the gun", making the supply order, and countless other management duties for successive district managers and store managers...always at rave reviews and a written record of excellence that is on file...Yet these two, Samara Snyder and Carl Caron say in the last sixty days, I have performed and continue to "perform at a sub-standard level" and need no bother any longer with the "performance improvement plan".

Senior management at American Eagle require to be informed of this situation ASAP and I have made complaint with the Alberta Human Rights Commission.

My name is Lori Ink, and for twenty plus years I have worked for Bramar /American Eagle Outfitters as the "stock lead" in the West Edmonton Mall Store. I have worked for many store managers and several different District Managers and have over twenty years a written record of excellent and outstanding performance appraisals.

I have been receiving shipment, making weekly supply orders, arranging the stowage of merchandise, informing store management of stock and nightly e mailing head office (Canada) {Connie Holmes} of stock here in Edmonton.

My job with American Eagle Outfitters and the success of this American company and the store in West Edmonton Mall has been very important to me, because as a single mother I raised and educated my university student son ...on this job, its pay and benefits (still do the benefits). I have an impeccable record of performance, honesty and integrity with the company and all previous management personnel ...until now, until only roughly 60 days ago.

Be advised a complaint will be lodged with both the Alberta Human Rights Commission and the Alberta Labour Board where American Eagle Outfitters has a record of labour law abuse, on Monday.

Roughly sixty days ago Joanne Hennig was terminated, by District Manager Samara Snyder, for bringing to the attention of head office (Canada) of pay discrepancies totaling several hundred dollars to some people. Moments after she was escorted by Store Manger Carl Caron out the the rear entrance, I was ushered into the room and told; "It is a shame a twenty plus year career with American Eagle is now in jeopardy because of your friendship with Joanne Hennig."

I was also told the the following: The store management had to revise all the lunch schedules so that Joanne and I would "not gossip". We went to lunch once a week, as a treat. And I was put on a "Performance Improvement Plan" whereby I was under pain of immediate dismissal, no longer to "receive shipment and use the gun", make further e mails to head office, make the weekly supply order, nor to communicate with anyone in the company what transpired in that meeting.

In the last 60 days others have been directed into the back office and berated, chastised and abused by Samara Snyder and Carl Caron together. Thrice I personally have been berated, and chastised by Ms. Snyder and Carl Caron in "private meetings". A month ago I applied in writing to take part of my five weeks earned and accumulated holidays to go to Las Vegas in October with my sisters ....it was denied originally by Mr.Caron because he said: "It is blackout". There is no "holiday blackout" in October. The next day in the next of my "sessions" with Samara Snyder and and Carl Caron, Ms. Snyder told me "it was the way you applied for holidays", to apply in writing for my holiday was "disrespectful", and "why did I want holidays in October for?" Didn't I know that holidays was, a "negotiation?"

The note applying for holidays was respectful, polite and stated the reason for time off ...and was still on file three days ago, if it has not been now removed by store management.

In one of these three "meetings" I was told that, "what is this about your hours, this is retail." I was then told that a letter would be forthcoming from head office authorizing the change of my hours. I have had these hours of employ with American Eagle and five weeks of earned and accumulated holidays for some years , I fulfilled some management functions in a very very successful American Eagle store for years...and this has somehow offended Mr. Caron and Ms. Snyder. So they have fabricated ...."sub-standard performance" for the last sixty days.

Ms Snyder yesterday gave me a letter saying "In light of your ongoing sub-standard performance we are revising your Personal Performance Plan of September 15. Please be advised that this letter constitutes written notice that your employment with American Eagle Outfitters will terminate November 5, 2010...."

There has been NO "sub-standard performance". In "meetings" with Carl Caron I have been blamed for "women plugging the toilets with paper towels because I didn't inform management there was no toilet paper . I was directed to clean the toilets everyday and to "direct others" to yet I have no longer any authority to direct others to do anything...So, when I used to receive shipment...I now clean toilets...and according to these prevarications , I a Mother, do it "badly". (That is sarcasm for you Americans)

After twenty years plus of employment with American Eagle Outfitters I have a written record of excellence and now new and inexperienced management want to deprive me of that, abuse me and terminate my employment because of my age, experience, hours of employment and earned holidays. I am NOT terminated and being deprived of American Eagle employment policies... for "sub-standard performance" nor because management wants "to go in another direction"..but because of the personal animus and the illegal behaviour of new management.

After twenty years of excellence with American Eagle Outfitters current store management want to even remove my good name and reputation. Monday I will send my complaint and notes to the Alberta Human Rights Commission, the Alberta Labour Board and seek legal counsel. It is ironic that in a time of economic recession in the US, US retail firms that count on Canadian sales and consumer confidence for their survival, would abuse their Canadian labour force and violate Alberta Human Rights and Labour Laws.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday, I have been denied taking seven days of holidays in October, which is not a blackout period. I applied in writing to take seven days holidays in October specifying that I wanted to go to Las Vegas with my sisters.

Store manager Carl Caron originally told me that, "October is blackout" due to the "holiday floor-set". The next day District Manager Samara Snyder told me my request for holidays was actually denied because, "the way I applied was disrespectful", that my applying for holidays in writing was wrong, because applying for one's accumulated and earned holidays was a "negotiation". Not to be done in writing.

The note I wrote applying for holidays, is still on file and it is respectful, and polite. Ms. Snyder wanted to know why I wanted holidays in October, which was specified in the note I wrote.

I have worked for American Eagle / Bramar for 22 years, all of my previous performance appraisals (which are on file) have been always excellent. In the last several months previous to Carl Caron taking over, my job included daily stock reports to YOU and others at head office, receiving shipment, making the weekly supply order, and other duties...for several consecutive store and district managers.

Whilst it is understandable that new management personnel may well want to do things differently and NOT have me perform management duties, it is fraudulent and dishonest to to claim that after many years of superior performance...that I am now ...supposedly incompetent.

Carl Caron has told me: I did not inform management of future stock shipments, when as you know I have been doing that to store management and e mailing head -office personnel with that information, for many months. I have been told that female staff are plugging the toilet with paper towels and I am to blame because I "did not inform Carl there is no toilet paper". These so called complaints of my supposed incompetence have transcended pathetic to ....fraudulent.

It is unbelievable that many years of excellent service, many years of recorded excellent performance appraisals and a record of impeccable honesty ....that it is alleged ....that I am incompetent and "giving attitude to management". That is quite simply fraud and will be reported as such.

I as single mother raised my son on this job, and still today my university student son is supported by the benefits I earn from this job. I have always cared deeply about the company I work for and its success, but the tactics being used now by management are frankly beneath American Eagle and you personally.

I have worked with many different people at American Eagle through the years, and I have no problems working here with the people here...I have no idea where the apparent animus from new management comes from, but it is inappropriate, unprofessional and is being expressed in a manner that is contrary to Alberta Labour Laws and Alberta Human Rights.

American Eagle at West Edmonton Mall

On July 28, 2010 Jo Ann Hennig's employment at American Eagle was terminated, and Lori Ink was "written up" and put on thirty days probation. Jo Ann Henig had complained to American Eagle Canada corporate human resources in Mississauga Ontario that several American Eagle employees at the West Edmonton Mall store were not paid for hours worked.

Ms. Hening had worked over a few weeks with American Eagle Canada's human resources managers to rectify the problem. Last week the problem had been rectified whereas several people were not paid correctly, their pay had been restored to them. On July 28 (yesterday) Jo Ann Henig was fired by store Manager Carl Caron and District Manager Samara Snyder .

Ms Snyder and Mr Caron informed Ms Hennig that she was terminated because there were several calls to the American Eagle "employee hot line" complaining about her "racist behaviour" and her being a "gossip". Both Ms. Snyder and Mr. Caron declined and then refused to identify this "racist behaviour" , explain when this "racist behaviour" occurred or give any details whatsoever that would confirm or validate the occurrence of this "racist behaviour" or that there were any "complaints" to the "hot line".

It should be noted that both Samara Snyder and Carl Caron are new to their respective positions at American Eagle West Edmonton Mall . Mr. Caron has been store manager for less that thirty days and has never once been out on the sales floor, or been the MOD (manager on duty). He has preferred to spend his days in the manager's office "doing paper work". Samara Snyder has been District manager less than sixty days and was hired by (American Eagle Canada CEO) Art Solomon who has resigned because he was concerned upon the direction American Eagle Canada was headed. It also should been noted that Mr. Caron's first decision other than terminating Ms. Hennig is to turn the "marketing room" into a larger office for himself.

It is more than a little suspicious that Ms. Hennig has been terminated for undisclosed and specified "racist behaviour" and "hot line complaints" when American Eagle employees on the watch of Carl Caron and Samara Snyder were not being paid for hours worked...and were dissuaded to complain or seek redress from "head office".

On July 28 2010, at roughly 10 am Carl Caron and Samara Snyder called Jo Ann Hennig into the West Edmonton American Eagle store's back room accused her of undisclosed "racist behaviour", fired her, surreptitiously escorted her out the back door...and called into their presence, Ms. Lori Ink.

Ms. Ink was first informed that Jo Ann Henig was terminated and that it would be a "shame" that "Ms. Ink's 18 year career with American Eagle were to end because of {her} friendship with Jo Ann Hennig." Lori Ink told Ms. Snyder and Mr. Caron that they needed to inform store staff that Jo Ann was terminated, at which point Carl Caron excused himself to tell the store's employees that Jo Ann Hennig was terminated. He also took the opportunity to tell the staff, that Ms. Ink would soon be out and be upset and perhaps crying ... And they "were forbidden to hug, comfort or otherwise commiserate with her".

During the "meeting" Mr. Caron and Ms. Snyder informed Lori Ink that she too was accused of "racist behaviour and gossip". When pressed for details these people told Ms. Ink she had used a "racist epithet".....she used the word "Asian" to describe the ethnic group "Asians". Ms. Snyder said that was...."racist behaviour". Once again NO further details of the "complainants" nor "complaints" were disclosed.

It should also be noted here that what Mr. Caron and Snyder did ...can be considered an offense to the C C of C (Criminal Code of Canada) section 300 "Criminal Slander". A "private information" or police prosecution could conceivably result .

Ms. Ink has been reprimanded for completing duties that Carl Caron and several previous managers have been having her do. (receiving shipment, supply orders etc) for the past several years in her "Performance Improvement plan" .

Ms. Ink was told that the entire "break schedule" for the store had been revamped because of her "gossip" with Jo Ann Hennig. Ms. Ink and Ms. Hennig once a week went out to lunch together for a couple of years (Tony Roma's)...and Mr. Caron and Ms. Snyder claim that there they...."gossip" .

At the end of the "interview" Ms. Ink was threatened with termination if she talked to Ms. Hennig, spoke about the "meeting" with the store employees or any employees or management of American Eagle. ....So much for using the "hot line" or communicating with corporate human resource personnel without retribution!

There is far more to this, but sufficed to say.... two new and obviously inexperienced management personnel have decided to persecute two very long time employees of American Eagle. Ms. Ink a single mother, raised a son and sends him to a post secondary institution on the pay of THIS JOB.

I wonder what the "intake officials" at Alberta Human rights and the Alberta Labour Board would say about this?

We have David Amos, a convicted pedophile and fugitive from justice in the United States. Dean Roger Ray is severely medicated bigot and so called "kristian" from Sylvan Lake Alberta. Byron Prior is a convicted criminal and product of incestuous sexual congress from Newfoundland .

The Human Species distinguishes itself from the other animal species on the planet in such, humans supposedly can think and or reason. All the other animal species on the planet . their weak, the less strong, or evolved... die. Humans don't...as illustrated by the aforementioned list of under-evolved, sub-humans. None of these so called "people" have accomplished anything with their lives. An example of that is David Amos who in fact, fabricates a past history of being "an ethical" whistle-blower, a litigant against "The Crown", Junior FBI G Man and yada yada yada.

Eddie Achtem keeps getting divorced, "taken to the cleaners" in divorce actions, and producing brain damaged little sub-human babies.

Then there is little Robin Reid, AKA Zorro Boy. She is a drug abuser of longstanding. She or "it", has a longstanding criminal and police history of prostitution and public mischief. She lives "on the dole" and in mental health facilities like "Wyser Manor". Our little Robin keeps whining about "hidden human rights abuses" and her personal "mental and physical human rights"...rather than working for her living, and providing and supporting herself.

In fact, that is what all these aforementioned "animals" have in common....none of them work, contribute to Canadian society, they are all parasites. Dean Roger Ray lives off AISH, Byron Prior is a retard living off the government and people of Newfoundland.......

The good people, the working people of Canada deserve relief from taxes and parasites like these indeed....good Canadian people deserve a "final solution" from the problem these sort of animals present us all with.

Yesterday, Abbas reformulated his terms for entering direct negotiations, namely Israel must agree to the idea of a third party guarding the borders of a future Palestinian state before direct peace talks can start and Israel must also agree in principle to a fair land swap that would compensate the Palestinians for West Bank land absorbed by Jewish settlements in any peace deal.

He can say what he want, but what are the parameters based on past agreements?

While many people argue that we know what the ultimate deal will look like, namely the creation of an independent, viable, contiguous, Palestinian state with the ’67 borders with minor swaps, a divided Jerusalem and a just solution to the refugee problem. The truth is quite the opposite.

The peace process began with USNC resolution 242 whose goal it was to achieve a “peaceful and accepted settlement.” Thus any settlement must be agreed upon and not imposed. The resolution required “Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict.” Thus not all territories must be withdrawn from. In fact Israel has already withdrawn from more than 90% of such territories by withdrawing from Sinai and Gaza. Little noticed is that this requirement requires no withdrawal from territories occupied in the ’48 war of independence.

This resolution also provided that such a settlement must include “termination of all claims or states of belligerency” and the recognition that “every State in the area” has the “right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force.” This is the basis for Israel demanding an end-of-conflict agreement.

At the Rabat Conference in 1974, Jordan and all Arab countries recognized the PLO as the “sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.” with respect to Judea and Samaria. (West Bank)

Egypt signed such a peace treaty with Israel in 1980. Jordan signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1994..

Pursuant to the Oslo Accords, Israel must now reach on agreement with the Palestinian Authority which replaced the PLO as the negotiating party. The Oslo Accords did not predetermine the disposition of Jerusalem, borders, Israel settlements and refugees other than to label them as final status issues to be negotiated. The Oslo Accords envisioned a settlement pursuant to the parameters of Res 242.

In 2003, the Roadmap was accepted by the PA and by Israel albeit subject to 14 reservations. Chief among the changes to the peace parameters of Oslo was the insertion of the Saudi Plan later adopted as the Arab League Initiative. This plan was at odds with Resolution 242 in that it required the withdrawal from all occupied territories subject to minor swaps of land of equal value, the division of Jerusalem and a just settlement of the refugee problem pursuant to General Assembly Resolution 194 which provided
“that refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbors should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for property of those choosing not to return.”
This resolution, having being passed by the General Assembly, is not binding.

PM Sharon objected strenuously to the insertion of the Saudi Plan but Secretary Powell overcame his objections by ramming it down his throat arguing “the Roadmap is only a process”.

Sharon had one more bite at the apple when he was negotiating with Pres Bush for a letter of commitment and principles in conjunction with the proposed disengagement from Gaza. .

Dore Gold of the JCPA commented on the significance of this letter.
• President Bush’s April 14, 2004, letter to Prime Minister Sharon represents a significant shift in U.S. policy, as compared to the Clinton Parameters advanced by the former president after the failed Camp David Summit of July 2000 and in subsequent months.
• In his plan, Clinton provided conditional approval of settlement blocs, but insisted that there needed to be “territorial swaps” of land from pre-1967 Israel in exchange for any West Bank land Israel would retain. Bush does not insist on any land swaps involving Israeli territory.
• Clinton spoke of Palestinian refugees finding homes in other states including Israel, while Bush states that Palestinian refugees should be settled in a future Palestinian state “rather than Israel.”
• The Clinton Parameters dropped the idea of defensible borders and replaced them with “security guarantees” including a proposed “international presence” in the Jordan Valley. In contrast, Bush refers to “defensible borders” in the context of preserving and strengthening “Israel’s capability to deter and defend itself, by itself.”
• According to the Clinton Parameters, Israel’s security needs “need not and should not come at the expense of Palestinian sovereignty or interfere with Palestinian territorial integrity.” In contrast, Bush allows for Israel to continue to control airspace, territorial waters, and land passages in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank “pending agreements or other arrangements.”
• During the Clinton era, the signing of a peace treaty was supposed to produce security for Israelis. Under Bush, security must be achieved first, as a prerequisite for peace. Given the threats Israel still faces from Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Yasser Arafat’s own Fatah Tanzim, the approach taken in the Bush letter represents a significant improvement for Israel and for the prospects of a lasting peace.
• The Clinton Parameters explicitly envisioned the re-division of sovereignty in Jerusalem according to a formula whereby “what is Arab should be Palestinian” and “what is Jewish should be Israeli.” Bush’s letter is silent on the issue of Jerusalem. While support for a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty is missing, at least there is no attempt to return to the Clinton formulations.

Thus the Clinton Parameters were much in line with the Saudi Plan and the Bush letter flew in the face of both of these and resorted to Res 242 which provided the original parameters of Oslo.

In June of last year Secretary Clinton disavowed the Bush letter saying it “did not become part of the official position of the United States government.” Israel begged to differ.

When Obama was interviewed by Yonit Levi for Israel TV on July 7th, he said at 40 seconds of Part 2, “our view on settlements is consistent with all the previous administrations” and continued “that view was always voiced not in the spirit of trying to undermine Israel’s security but to strengthen it”. He made it clear he was talking about the freeze which he called the “moratorium.”

Keep in mind that there are two separate but inter-connected issues here, namely where Israel can build in the interim and what lands she is expected to cede in the final agreement. Bush’s letter clearly referred to the parameters for final settlement but such parameters have implications for where he permitted Israel to build in the interim. Israel and the bush administration had agreed that Israel could build within the construction line of the settlements in Judea and Samaria and could build unabated in the settlement blocks. Obama is flat out wrong to say that his view on settlements is consistent with that of Bush.. It isn’t. By demanding the freeze, Obama was against Israel building anywhere east of the green line.

JPOST reported on July 5th,
“according to proposal, Obama would publicly hint at acceptance of then-US president George W. Bush’s 2004 letter to then prime minister Ariel Sharon, and Netanyahu would say that while settlement construction would continue inside the large settlement blocks, it would not be restarted outside of those areas.

‘The Washington Times reported the next day, on the significance of the Bush letter and reported that Dan Shapiro, the White House National Security Council’s senior director for the Middle East and North Africa, “declined to say whether the 2004 letter reflected the Obama administration’s understanding of the parameters or borders of a final settlement to the conflict.”

So this proposal is still out there. Pres Obama must accept the terms of the Bush letter for there to be any progress. Even then, there will be great debate on what blocs to be included. Negotiations will include whether Israel will cede Arab east Jerusalem, (where the Palestinians live) to the PA and whether it will allow a token return of refugees, both in line with Clinton. To my mind if Israel gets to retain more land and settlements it will be more flexible on accepting a token number of refugees. Thus all the issues are inter-related.

In the interview above referred to Obama was asked if he was still demanding a freeze and he replied that he now only sought direct negotiations. Make of that what you will.

Still to be debated are whether Israel will get defensible borders and whether Bush will be followed in placing Israel security needs above Palestinian sovereignty.

The fact that the PA doesn’t speak for Palestinians living in Gaza, is ignored. The fact that Hamas is dedicated to Israel’s destruction is also ignored. The fact that the PA continues to incite contrary to the Roadmap is also ignored.

Bottom line though is that all issues are to be negotiated and agreed upon. This requirement is in both Res 242 and The Roadmap. Failing agreement, which is likely, will Obama or the UN attempt to impose a plan, even though it is illegal to do so?

All of this folderol seem rather hypocritical whereas our American cousins took Texas from it Mexico less than 200 years ago during a combination of two wars.....I do NOT see our amerkan "friends" giving it back anytime soon, do you?

Israel is NOT the "roadblock" to peace......until "palestinian society" matures and political peace betwixt Fatah and HAMAS et al is realized...their can be NO "peace" in the Middle East.

Saturday, July 17, was the day Palestinians were slated to hold a municipal election in the West Bank. But the elections were scrapped. Initially, only groups like Hamas rejected the vote. Then, last month, the Palestinian Authority (PA) opted to postpone the elections entirely. The legislative process came to a screeching halt. The ongoing civil war between Hamas (which controls Gaza Strip) and Fatah (which controls the West Bank) puts the Palestinians in a state of limbo, with no new elections planned.What does this mean for Palestinian democracy?

Palestinian intellectuals and activists have long argued that democracy is a natural fit for the Palestinians. After the Israelis conquered the Palestinian territories in the 1967 Six Day War, they ensured that the Palestinians elected their own leaders through municipal elections in 1972 and 1976. Two decades later, during the first intifada, Palestinians built upon this tradition by electing uprising leaders.
Academics and advocates argue that decades of Israeli “occupation” makes Palestinians hungry for an accountable government. Others argue that the corrupt Fatah-dominated PA has exacerbated that hunger. Finally, advocates for the Palestinian cause will say that the Palestinian Diaspora, given its exposure to university educations and Western political systems, is ready and able to embrace democracy.

Prompted by the Oslo peace process, Palestinians put these theories to test. Indeed, throughout the 1990s, the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) resembled a Western-style parliament. The Palestinians cast ballots in legislative and presidential elections. By 2000, as the Oslo process came to a head, a Washington Institute for Near East Policy monograph projected that “the PA [Palestinian Authority] could become a democracy.”

All bets were off, however, after PA chairman Yasir Arafat launched the al-Aqsa Intifada later that year. First, the rule of law disintegrated as Palestinians turned to terror. Then, after a spate of suicide bombings in 2001 and 2002, Israel retaliated against the PA, which was a partner on several attacks. Israel’s military destroyed key PA governmental targets and other infrastructure.

As the PA became increasingly feeble, Islamist groups like Hamas grew in power. Indeed, when Arafat died in 2004, few analysts knew who really controlled the Palestinian streets.
Amidst this chaos, in January 2005, the Palestinians went back to the polls. They officially elected Mahmoud Abbas, Fatah’s second-in-command, as head of the PA. But Abbas could not control the streets. Nor could he beat back Hamas, which continued to amass power through municipal elections held between December 2004 and December 2005.

Finally, in January 2006, the Palestinians held what were widely seen as free and fair legislative elections. It was touted as a testament to their political sophistication, supposedly confirming what so many analysts had posited over the decades. However, the election was also the undoing of the Palestinians.
Hamas won the election, claiming 76 of the 132 parliamentary seats. Fatah was humiliated. But with support from the West, Fatah refused to hand over power, and further refused to join a coalition with Hamas.

A bitter deadlock kept the Palestinians paralyzed until the civil war of June 2007. Hamas conquered Gaza in a battle that killed 161 Palestinians and wounded some 700. The political fallout was also considerable: Hamas controlled Gaza, while the West Bank remained in Fatah hands.
Repeated attempts by the Saudis, Egyptians, Yemenis, Turks, Mauritanians and others have failed to foster reconciliation since the 2007 war, while the two sides (from their two different territories) continue to trade barbs.
Given this context, the decision to hold municipal elections this month was questionable from the start. Indeed, little could have been accomplished under these circumstances.

But this was not the reason the West Bank leaders cancelled the vote. The real reason was that Fatah could not agree on the candidates they would stand up for election. More importantly, as journalist Khaled Abu Toameh notes, Fatah feared another electoral humiliation.

How can the U.S., in good faith, sponsor a state that would not be a functioning democracy? If the Obama administration wants to continue to hold out hope for Palestinian statehood, it must find a way to revive the flat-lining Palestinian political system. The odds of success grow increasingly dim.

As does the existance of a viable "palestinian state" .

Efforts to impose a Palestinian state (the "two-state" proposal) are doomed to fail for one simple reason: Palestinians Arabs do not want such a state; they don't constitute a nation, or a people. Their nationalism is not based on a unique linguistic, historical, cultural, or religious identity; its primary goal is to wipe out the Eretz and its Jewish inhabitants.

Any form of "Palestinian" statehood, therefore, that accepts Israel's right to exist, is, by their definition, impossible. That is clearly evident in the PLO Covenant and HAMAS Charter.

‘Palestinianism’ is not a national identity, but a political construct developed as part of a terrorist agenda when the PLO was formed in 1964. It was a way of distinguishing between Arabs and Jews, and between Arabs who lived in Israel before 1948 and other Arabs.

"Palestinian Arabs," or "Arab Palestinians" is not a foreign or colonial description; it is what they used to describe themselves in their official documents. Their identity was based on a myth; their sole purpose was "the liberation of Palestine," including what is now Jordan.

Arabs who lived in Palestine did not consider themselves separate from the greater Arab nation, as reflected in PLO documents. They rallied to the pro-Nazi Mufti, Haj Amin Hussein, not because he expressed their national identity, but because of Jew-hatred. Nor do they define their struggle as achieving statehood alongside Israel. Their goal is to replace Israel.

"Two-state" proposals, therefore, with Palestinian statehood as a territorial goal, in fact contradict Palestinianism. Such plans mean the end of Palestinianism, and of their struggle to eradicate Israel.

Statehood means ending armed struggle
This explains why no Arab "Palestinian" leader will agree to surrender to Western and Zionist interests, and why making compromises is anathema. Statehood means a denial of the Nakba (catastrophe), the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, admitting that everything for which they fought and sacrificed was in vain.

Statehood means abandoning five million Arabs who live in 58 UNRWA-sponsored "refugee camps" in Judea, Samaria, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, and hundreds of thousands living throughout the world; they will no longer be considered "refugees." That means a loss of over half-billion dollars per year that UNRWA receives.

Statehood means giving up "the armed struggle," the crux of their identity; it means that the concept of Palestinianism created by the PLO, accepted by the UN and the media, and even Israeli politicians was a hoax, a fake identity, with a false purpose. It means that their suffering was for naught.

Statehood means taking responsibility and ending incitement and violence. It means confronting the myth of "Palestinian archeology," and "Palestinian society and culture," and building authentic nationalism, institutions and structures with transparency.

It also means, of course, ending the conflict, an end to terrorism as official policy, an end to the civil war between Islamists and secularists, between tribes and clans, an end to corruption and lawlessness, the establishment of a truly democratic government.

No artificial construct imposed from outside can replace the establishment of a genuine process of nation-building from inside. Ironically, "Palestinianism" is the greatest obstacle to a Palestinian state alongside Israel and regional stability.

Israel is “preparing something” for Lebanon and Hizbullah is on high alert to prevent it, unnamed sources in the group were quoted by London-based newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat as saying Saturday.The IDF recently declassified and released high-quality intelligence of Hizbullah positions in southern Lebanon. Many interpreted the IDF's publicizing of the intelligence as an attempt both to deter Hizbullah attacks and to prepare the Israeli public for a future war should it be deemed necessary.

The Hizbullah sources claimed the photos were fabrications, but said “we are avoiding any heated exchanges because we want the Lebanese’s summer to pass quietly and without incident.”Hizbullah's deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem on Friday said Israel would suffer tremendous casualties in the event of another war.

In an interview with Syrian television cited by Press TV, Qassem said: "If the result of the July [2006] war was a failure to the Israelis, then Israel would suffer a big loss in its next aggression.

Qassem's remarks came on the fourth anniversary of the Second Lebanon War and were considered a response to the IDF's release of the photos.
On Wednesday, top IDF officers revealed that the air force today has thousands of designated targets it can bomb if war were to break out. Some of them, like those that appear on the maps of the southern Lebanese village of el-Khiam that were declassified on Wednesday, are of arms caches, command-and-control centers and rocket launchers. Others are likely long-range rockets, like the highly accurate M600 or Scuds, which Syria is reported to have recently transferred to Lebanon.

In the four years that have passed since the Second Lebanon War, both the IDF and Hizbullah have been busy studying their mistakes and implementing the necessary lessons. The IDF significantly increased training regimens, developed and procured active-protection systems for tanks and armoured personnel carriers and is investing in building new urban warfare training centers due to an understanding that the next conflict would be fought in the narrow streets of southern Lebanese villages.Close quote JPost

This is a combination, warning, an attempt at misdirection and keeping all tactical threats in play to HAMAS, Hezbollah, Iran and Syria. Intel is always updated, target lists expand, and evolve. Target lists have a multitude of priorities, and kinds of targets. There will target lists of "high value" enemy "political " operatives", HAMAS, Hezbollah senior commanders and liaison officers to Iran and Syria. "Decapitation strikes" and elimination of C and C infrastructure are priority targets in the very first hours of the next campaign. A young man from the United Kingdom inquired about my "politics". I am a Canadian conservative, stress the Canadian appellation. I have a very strong libertarian bent or inclination. But above all, political machinations, ideological mantra or consideration the safety, security lives and general well being in broad and loose terms is above all the most important role of the "state". After that...... education....every human being is the architect of his or her success, or failure in this existence. We...humans succeed or fail, and are responsible for that. The "state is NOT responsible for people being happy and or successful or not. But governments are responsible for every one of its citizens having equal and unparallelled educational opportunities to...have the best life they can gain.

So I am a "minimalist" in regarding to the size, and influence of "governments". Every humans success or failure in the pursuit of happiness, or financial circumstance is theirs alone....we are all the architects of our own lives....not government.

So what is more important to the "state", Human life, secular law, or what God says the law is? There are 54 self-proclaimed Islamic Republics on the planet all devoted to or implementing Sharia or Islamic jurisprudence. The Islamic nation-state of Iran had sentenced Sakine Mohammedie Ashtiani to 99 lashes....upon completion of the sentence, and after further...... "judicial review "...Iranian "authorities" have decided Sakine Mohammedie Ashtiani will be also stoned to death.

Dean Roger Ray has posted here on You Tube that I murdered Tom Lees of which there is no record of, nor record of, a murder of a man named Tom Lees. Dean Roger Ray says that he watched me murder Tom Lees with a "paintball gun" and I said to Dean...."you never forget your first kill", somewhere in Ontario, he has not detailed the exact location nor date of this "murder".

Dean Roger Ray is an uneducated, unemployed, developmentally challenged resident of Sylvan Lake Alberta (if he hasn't moved) In previous posts on the inter-net he as asked for individuals to kill RCMP constables. He has told all and sundry little stories of "one man collecting rocks to assault police constables" with and then extrapolating what twenty or fifty like minded individuals could do to Canada's federal police service. Meanwhile our "Austrian Corporal" dons his ersatz Wehrmacht field-cap with the "hammer and sickle" pin on it, and attempts to wax poetic on video about the "virtues" of socialism....that has been cast upon the dung heap history most everywhere on the planet.

It is funny that "intellects" like "redfistofeurope" and others deplore and decry what they call statism...yet call for socialism or democratic socialism that require large nationalist if not jingoistic governments, to monitor and influence every aspect of individual citizens lives. I submit that not government is the problem, nor the "root of all evil"....but their size and influence upon the lives of individuals is. Socialist animals, "fifth columists" and what Canadian society thinks

Canada's uneducated "unionists", socialists, "social activists", and "protest tourists" are entirely responsible for the terrorist acts and violence perpetrated in Toronto at the G-8, G-20 summits. And more to the point, that is how the vast majority of Canadians feel about it.

Angus - Reid - Ipsos (June 28) conducted a poll of 1,859 Canadians including 689 residents of the GTA ( Greater Toronto Area) which showed: 74% of Canadians and 75% of GTA residents agreed that Black Bloc members and or any "protester" ought NOT be with any offence of the CC of C (Criminal of Code Canada) but under the provisions of Canada's counter-terrorism legislation.

Angus-Reid conducted a June 28-28 poll of 1003 Canadians in all provinces and a diverse sample showed: That 66% of Canadians not only felt police tactics and actions were justified, but also approved of police behavior. The same polls show 80 % of Canadians and 82% of GTA residents think legislation ought be enacted that makes it illegal to cover or obscure one's face during and "peaceful" demonstration.

Most Canadians thought or think that any "message" any of these "peaceful and law-abiding" protester had was NOT heard nor listened to. (51% of Canadian and 61% of GTA residents) .

So called you tube "intellectuals" will pontificate and opine about the "evils of statism" or that socialism is NOT about creating vast government bureaucracies but "tearing down walls".... real Canadians, the very vast majority of Canadians know that there is no such thing as a "peaceful protest march". But merely a group of low grade terrorists....enabling and encouraging violent terrorists.

Some years ago "peaceful protesters" in Toronto of all places rioted violently regarding the police beating of Black California resident Rodney Scott. These "peaceful protesters'," mantra was "trash it, don't steal it". That of course begs the question : Why "protest" and destroy individuals' private property in Toronto...to "protest" racism in suburban Los Angeles?

To make it clear to our uneducated, uninformed friends like that dope..."thestraightdope" or our "stuck in time" socialist fool "redfistofeurope" or pedophile David Anus let us once again state the obvious ....socialism has NO ONLY... been "cast upon to the dung heap of history" but tried to disseminate a "message" so disparate and stupid...from "nuke the whales", saving the seals, "world unger"and the "incineration of Africa"...that in the end ...there was NO MESSAGE...NO POINT the exercise other than to create a stage or tactical opportunity for terrorists to engage authorities ....(the Integrated Security Unit).

Notwithstanding "thestraightdope's" well edited and made propaganda video, and prevarications that only foreign corporations were targeted for violence by "peaceful protesters...these "peaceful protesters" are indeed terrorists. They aided and abetted terrorists and refused to denounce their stated goals and plans.

Your garden variety trade union protester or "social activist " is not educated nor particularly interested in curing any of the "world's ills". The appearance of a large and obese Quebecois woman being arrested by the ISU because as she said..." all I was doing was protesting world unger'. Then by all means then, volunteer your time and money to to Oxfam. UN food agencies, the Unitarian Service Committee of Canada....and FEED PEOPLE rather than..... "protest".

There were a significant number of ignorant and uneducated "protesters"complaining about the number of prisons in Canada. Yet a number of people really interested in the plight of those incarcerated yet innocent (project innocence) are constantly looking for financial assistance for the hiring of legal and investigatory duties.

Let us be very clear ....these "protests and protesters have NOTHING to do with societies ills...but merely are a challenge to authority that must be only tolerated until criminal laws are violated.

Protest is merely the act of those not willing nor intellectually equipped to facilitate change within society, and jail is indeed the best place for those of that ilk.

Whilst away in Israel (IDC Herzilya, and observing IDF units) the G-20, G-8 summits and the associated terrorist activities were concluded. Before our uneducated and entirely uninformed, bleat loud and long about about the "right to peaceful protest", let us be very clear....there was no peaceful protest that week-end. In fact the latest Gallop Poll numbers just released show a full two-thirds of Canadians "disgusted" by the "terrorist behaviour" of the myriad of disparate "protest groups". (reported in Globe and Mail and National Post Canada's two national dailies)

The "protest groups" in fact helped enable a significant political victory for Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Their unlawful and terrorist like violence helped draw attention to the summit, and the success the Harper Government had: In eliminating the global application of a Bank Tax and or "Tobin Tax" . The acceptance of the Canadian Government's "Maternal Health Initiative". And once again drawing attention to the fact the Canadian banking industry was relatively untouched by the global recession due to it's being highly regulated. Whereas the global banking industry has serious structural problems that contributed significantly to the global recession...that is NOT the case here in Canada.

Notwithstanding protests for some of the uneducated and great unwashed like David Anus, astraightdope, indy-"news" and other you tube "intellects" the very vast majority of Canadians endorse and approve of the actions and tactics of the Integrated Security Unit at the G-8, G-20 Summits.

Combine the leadership re- the "protests" and the Harper success at the Summits, with Canadians disenchantment and trust of the Liberal Party of Canada and it's leader, with both low polling numbers of the NDP and Green Party.....look to a fall general election and a Tory majority government.

It seems our "social activists" have NOT actually read the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms; whereas The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees every citizen the right to peaceful protest and lawful assembly. However, it also includes a clause that states that in exercising these rights, the rights of others are not to be infringed upon. All rights have reasonable limits and are coupled with responsibilities.

I am quite sure the franchise operators, small business operators and bystanders would agree the "animals" engaged in the unlawful violence at the "protests", were infringing on their Charter Rights of "life, liberty and security."

These are the political realities and results of that Summit week-end. Notwithstanding the propaganda of the uneducated, "socialist animals" and the uninformed of you tube....the very vast majority of Canadian do NOT think the civil liberties of "protesters" were violated a whit.

It has always been the way of young and immature minds to re-plow silly notions, akin to discussing matters akin in importance to "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin", or pin head. Security and human rights are not in opposition, but intertwined like DNA strands. Together they form the genetic code of modern citizenship. They are compatible and inseparable. The right to life, in Eretz Israel, the right to life of it's citizens is not only the issue, but the right of every Jew on the planet since the Diaspora to have a "bolt hole" for himself and his children, and his children's children to be safe from what the "world" has done and is still trying to do to us.

Whilst I am traveling, Canada is hosting G-8 and G-20 summits. The Canadian government is spending roughly 900 million on security. To put that into perspective the newly elected British government's first budget announced a day or so ago slashed government spending by 25%.

NGOs are outraged that in 2005 the G-8 leaders announced that by this year 2010...every AIDS patient on the planet would have access to life saving medicine.....The reality is, now in 2010 there are an estimated 33 million people infected with the AIDS virus. There are roughly 9 million people not receiving treatment...most are in South Saharan Africa....And that G-8 "promise" has been quietly shelved and abandoned.

That 900 million for security could indeed have better uses.

But Syed Hussan of the Toronto Community Mobilization Network, and Anna Willats of the Creative Queer Resistance Unit when asked "are you against violence at the summit"? They replied "of course we are against violence". "We're against all violence, gender violence, the violence of property, and police violence ......" But asked again."are you against violent protest at the summit".....they said they "couldn't answer a hypothetical question."

A group called the Southern Ontario Anarchist Resistance will march on the downtown Toronto security fence; " in aid of its struggle against the capitalist, colonial,racist, patriarchal, homophobic, transphobic Canadian state." It has also stated their aim is to, "humiliate, the security apparatus through militant and confrontational action." In one video these people urge You Tubers to..."leave Bay Street blazing".

President Obama and Hillary Clinton like to say that the US has and will continue to "guarantee Israel's security". In Israel the issue is NOT security, but the continual survival all of almost 7 million Jews. And never in the short, since 1948 history of Israel has "amerika" guaranteed our survival, it was NOT until after "67" and the Six Day War did "amerika" sell Eretz Israel arms.

Security in Israel...is survival. In the last couple of months an announcement that two very, very large natural gas fields (leviathan and tamar) have been discovered entirely within the territorial waters of Israel. These natural gas discoveries rival in size and importance the North Seal oil discoveries. These discoveries guarantee the energy self-sufficiency of Israel and mean Israel will be exporter of energy....And go further to guarantee the secure the survival of Jews everywhere on the planet.

Whilst Israel is NOT a member of the G-8 or G-20 ...Israel is in better economic shape than most EU and G-20 states. The UK is the world's seventh largest economy but its currant government debt is 68.2% 0f GDP and is suffering perhaps the world's single most largest economic downturn.

Whereas Israel's small economy is not only thriving but Israel continues to receive billions upon billions of dollars from Jews world wide to ensure the survival of the "bolt hole" for Jews.

I suspect that not one of the NGOs in Canada all getting government money prepping this day to "exercise their rights" of assembly and "peaceful" protest this week-end at the summit meeting...are thinking about the freedom that is theirs because real Canadians and real soldiers elsewhere purchase these "people's" freedom...with their lives.

Today at CFB Trenton, an aircraft will arrive from Afghanistan to repatriate the remains of Canada's 148 th fallen FREEDOM FIGHTER Sgt James MacNeil. As the Hearst travels the Highway of Hero's from CFB Trenton to the Coroner's Office in Toronto, the Highway will be lined by thousands of "ordinary Canadians, police constables, firefighters...and so on to pay respect and say thank you. Do you think Mr. Redfistofeurope any of these people or Sgt MacNeil's family will give a shit about your views regarding the evils of "stateism" , the obscenity of patriotism and how wonderful real socialism is?.

I will be in Herzilia in a a few days, so this will be my last article to you right now...

Yesterday IAF successfully launched, gained ground control, and deployed in low orbit OFEK 9 Reconnaissance Satellite, joining now five other RORSAT, and Recon Satellites also deployed in low orbit of the earth, by Israeli Aerospace Industries. The IAF has for many years launched these and other systems from Palmahim Air Base and space launch facility.

IAF's 151 Squadron has long provided Israel with "strategic capability". OFEK 9 has long range capability and is deployed to recon Iran more fully, Southern Lebanon and Syria . In addition with IAF's other Recon Assets (RORSATS) all shipping in the
Med is also surveyed. Combine that with SHALDAG (unit) 5101 also stationed at Palmahim, also gives IDF with a SPEC WAR capability (laser target designation capability) throughout the entire ME.

This week the G-8 meet for one day in Huntsville Canada, and the G-20 ( a week-end?) in Toronto Canada. The distraction of protesters, summit security, and a terrorist threat of attack and the usual mayhem in the "name of the people"...... for Israel as well. This week-end may well be a very opportune time to cull "high value targets" in Gaza, Syria, Lebanon and Iran.

OSINT sources show currently several ships prepping for another attempt or show of an attempt to break IDF's MEZ (Maritime Exclusion Zone) upon Gaza. The "world" has been placated ....a an easing of the MEZ should have been ordered months ago. So now "accidents' and "technical difficulties" can plague the ships in Cyprus, Istanbul. and elsewhere.......

President Obama is also preoccupied with what appears to be a "rogue" General Officer...any firing of General MacChrystal may well have serious ramifications regarding morale of US troops in Afghanistan and the further prosecution of hostilities against the Taliban.

That...and the fragile nature of the "global economic recovery" would seemingly give Israel an opportunity to find or act upon some actionable intelligence regarding Gilad Schalit, weapons positions in Southern Lebanon and Syria. In a mid- term to long term view with the "western world" being so preoccupied...this may not be a very goodtime to release the shackles of the "settler movement in Israel", now.

A bright young man wrote..."ignorance is slavery". This young man wrote this on his You Tube Channel...("ilikenuman") and he is right. It seems to me that a You Tube Channel is akin to ...leaving a light on, on the front porch on a summer's evening, it attracts a lot of bugs! So whilst this bright young man makes and posts wonderfully funny, witty and socially apt videos... they elicit many excellent and astute comments...but alas a number of rather for lack of a better term...stupid comments and uncommonly uneducated and ignorant "verbage ".

So yesterday on the "puter" I looked at my friend young Owen's You Tube Channel where the participants discuss "atheism" the "evils" of "stateism" and so on. And then I listened to a live internet broadcast of Stephen Hawking's inaugural lecture at Waterloo University's Perimeter Institute for Advance Theoretical Physics, as Lucasian Professor of Mathematics. So Professor Hawking has left Cambridge to come to Canada. (I think temporarily)

I was struck by a comment made by Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty who said Hawking " was drawing picture of God". I have read Hawking's, A Brief History of Time (although I am quite sure I grasped little of it)...but any logical and mathematical attempt to describe the dawn of the universe, certainly is akin to "drawing a picture of God".

So in the span of a day I listened to arguably the "world's smartest man" and read words of a from a "13 y/o Wiccan" who was figuratively bouncing up and down chanting "look at me", and decrying a 57 y/o liar and convicted pedophile. Redfistofeurope made a video on young Owen's You Tube Channel extolling the virtues of "socialism" and replacing theism and human choice something akin to "the new Soviet man and collectivism"...which was done before, and was cast on the dungheap of history.

Whereas Hawking's bestseller, A Brief History of Time is the most popular book about cosmology ever written. The questions cosmology addresses are scientifically and theologically profound. Hawking's book covers both of these implications.

Now of course Abou Mazen blames Israel and "Israel's intransigence as the root causes of this "erosion of a viable two state solution". In 1948 the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution terminating the British Mandate in Palestine, and partitioning the former mandate into two "homelands" one for "Arabs" and one for the "Jews". Alas then, then entire Trans Arab Nation and the Arab League invaded all of the former British Mandate...and was successful in retaining West Bank, territory of Jordan until they cut it loose...and Gaza...once territory of Egypt...and it was cut loose. Now, in recent times HAMAS has violently removes Gaza from Fatah and the 'palestinian authority's " administration. Abou Mazen does NOT control Gaza. The "palestinian authority" does not administer Gaza....Iran does. As former US Ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton said...."the two state solution is dead, and only the Holy Land is good for, but one resurrection".

Abou Mazen or Mahmud Abbas and Fatah have no presence in Gaza, no authority or administration in Gaza....how can he be a "partner for peace" or be a player in a two state solution?

Let us be very clear ...the two state solution is dead. There is no one on the "palestinian" side that wants a two state solution. No "palestinians" wanted the two state solution in 1948, and no "palestinians" want a two state solution ....now!

Until there is a "moderate administration", until there is a government of "palestinians" that reflect a societal consensus for peace...there is NO two state solution. The Israelis, the Israeli government nor Israel society is the problem...just as in 1948....Arab, the Pan Arab Nation, the "Arab Street...is the problem, and always has been.

Abou Mazen or Mahmud Abbas and the PA "going all in" on the misguided notion that they can convince US President Obama to impose a "peace agreement" or settlement on Eretz Israel. Mahumd Abbas in his last meeting with Barak Obama said..."bold decisions on the part of the US administration are required to bring peace to the Middle East". The "palestinian authority" wants the US to negotiate for them, all final status matters with Eretz Israel. At the same time the PA response has been eschew "final status" discussions with Israel itself.

Now all "palestinian" pretense of peace negotiations will cease because of "Arab outrage" over the botched freedom flotilla OP. Which is a good thing. The November American mid-term elections will change the political landscape in the US, making it more "republican" and even more pro-Israel.

Notwithstanding the "palestinians" and Turkey's outrage and attempts to "rush to justice" the rest of the "world's outrage"...the freedom flotilla fiasco has been exposed for what it was....an "Arab attempt" at martyrdom and propaganda. Israeli film clearly shows the attack on unarmed Israel naval personnel.

Israel has shown good judgement in offering a relaxation of blockade conditions and opening up of land crossings (under international supervision) into Gaza. That maintains the blockade of weapons and material for HAMAS and removes the idea that Gaza is blockaded as a geo-political issue.

Israel is now afforded a situation of "stalemate" vis a vis the "palestinians" now. The "palestinians" believe that time is on their side. I am not sure of that. The world becomes distracted from the "plight of the poor palestinians". North and South Korea may engage in hostilities, the global meltdown of financial markets, Iran armed with nuclear weapons, "global climate change"...and so on. The world cares little and will care less about a "state" for the "palestinians" in future...an "ethnicity" that does not, and has not existed.

Israel must focus on three things: The Iranian threat. Israel is right to deploy Dolphin Class naval platforms in the Persian Gulf armed with "cruise missiles" . Also Israel has stationed within range of Iran, Sa'ar 5 class platforms also armed with "cruise missiles". Mission specific training for IAF aircraft for an OP Opera type strike(s) has been ongoing for sometime. Mission specific training, intel gathering and the compilation of target lists for strikes in Syria and Lebanon where SCUD missiles are deployed..also is ongoing.

As the "proximity talks" fail, the settler movement needs to buy out, squeeze out, and or terrorize out Arab landowners in Judea and Samaria. What the Arabs lose, in any subsequent talks they will NOT regain. There is NO peace with "palestinians" until the threat presented by Iran is utterly removed. There is NO removal of the blockade until the Iran threat is removed and Gilad Schalit is returned.

From the beginning of the Cold War "peaceniks" kept the "doomsday clock" to better illustrate the perils and proximity of nuclear war betwixt the US and or NATO and the Former Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact nations. If memory serves the "doomsday clock" never got any closer to midnight than three or four minutes to midnight. It now could be perhaps closer to "midnight".

Last Sunday the London Sunday Times reported that Israel was going to deploy "twenty-four / seven, a Dolphin Class (U212) (AIP propulsion) submarine equipped with US surface to surface "cruise missiles" armed with "special weapons" (read nuclear warheads) in the Persian Gulf. Most of us have known that Israel has actually had instituted this deployment for some months.

Israel has three Dolphin Class submarine platforms. ( So it is well able to place this deterrence asset ...and keep it there.) All three INS submarine platforms are (u212 class with AIP propulsion systems) {they are extremely quiet} Iran has no operational ASW (anti-submarine warfare) capability. IDF also can and does deploy Sar'ar 5 Class , surface to surface equipped with "Cruise missiles" (special weapons warheads) Corvettes.... INS Hanit INS Lahav and INS Hanit . At any given time one or more of these platforms are stationed within "cruise missile" range of Iran and its hardened nuclear weapons facilities.

The IDF pre-emptive strike OP Opera on Osirik Iraq in "80" was successful because there was impeccable intelligence. Yet IAF used only F-16 assets to strike a target well at the extreme operational range of the F-16.... only and conventional weapons...there was but one target .

Iran has up to twenty dispersed hardened nuclear weapons facilities and locations. Iran's air -to air or air superiority anti-aircraft defenses are minimal. "Triple A" , or anti-aircraft artillery and SAM surface to air missile defenses are formidable. So IDF plans to use a number of weapon systems, from a number of platforms, from a number of locations, and "shoot into" a verified target list.....Thus overwhelming defenses and Iran's "second-strike" capability...indeed this scenario does "game out well".

Iran and its "revolutionary guard" has offered to escort ships to the port of Gaza City and thus "break the blockade". Iranian naval platforms will be at risk, from the moment they are in the Med. INS Sa'ar5 platforms, and Sar'ar 4.5 platforms are equipped with Harpoon anti-shipping missiles.

Iranian naval platforms will been exposed to IAF aircraft attack, and will completely without air support. The military correlation of forces is indeed adverse in the extreme for Iran. The question is: Would Iranian naval forces in the Med and within Gaza's twelve mile limit precipitate Israel launching a strategic air assault with special weapons?

Would Iran attempt to launch "special weapons" equipped Shihab IV and V missile systems against Israel? Would Israeli Patriot 3/ Arrow missile defenses, defeat incoming Iranian missiles? Balance that, with Israel considers HAMAS/ Hezbollah getting missiles from Iran through ports in Gaza as a existential threat. Iranian naval units escorting weapons to Gaza ...is NOT going to happen.

We do not have to worry about comment from Little Dean and Dave...they are to uneducated to understand most posts. So have you seen them, been annoyed or insulted by them, have you smelled their disease? Have you ever crossed the "medicine line" and seen some Yank being taken into custody because he just has..."this constitutional right to bear arms"...in Canada.

I remember years ago when the debate was on in Canada, about there being weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Our American 'friends" demanded that Canada join into "the Coalition of the Willing. American "veterans" and sportscasters loudly denounced Canada for NOT buying into the US policy.

At the time I was serving as a planner at NDHQ and with 24 other of my colleagues we went to Tampa SOUCOM HQ to be involved in the planning in the planning stages of the op....and to report to NDHQ, that would report to the PMO upon the merits of the proposed operation.There was never at anytime an existing target list of verified sites where there were deployed WMD.

Coalition assets were more than sufficient for the initial strike and invasion phase but even at that point in the planning, we were concerned about the number of "boots on the ground" for the occupation (and end game) stage of an operation in Iraq. We were also concerned about the American plans for occupation plans of Iraq because they at that stage included no contingency for a handing over of civil authority to a vetted Iraqi government and bureaucracy.

There was no detailed plan for Iraq being "liberated" and returned to its people...nor a thought to an eventual exit plan. This was contrary to the lessons of Vietnam but also to current military thought, that folks like Colin Powell and "Stuffy" Leighton and others elucidated upon."What's the mission" how long is the mission, what conditions are to met before US troop can redeploy?

Prime Minister Jean Chretien and the PMO were even at the very preliminary planning stages wary of Canadian involvement in an Iraq operation....History would prove them correct. The political pressure being applied on the PMO from the George W Bush administration was onerous

American military assets were extremely overstretched, and Canadian military assets even more so It was proposed by the PMO that Canadian naval platforms would deploy to assist in naval quarantine operations in the Gulf and that Canadian army assets would deploy in Afghanistan thus permitting US army assets to redeploy for an Iraqi operation....The PMO thought that "compromise would save Canadian lives and liberal political capital.. and the priority of which ....not necessarily in that order.

Essentially Canada was determined to stay out of Iraq, paid the price, of a larger role in Afghanistan to enable US military assets to redeploy to Iraq. The US op in Afghanistan evolved from a US op, to a UN op, to a NATO /ISAF op. NATO countries other than Canada and the UK shun combat operations in Afghanistan..their rules of deployment and engagement mitigate against NATO troops engaging the Taliban. By design I am quite sure.

But now the American Iraq op, is a great success. The "surge" worked. But alas now 127 Canadian soldiers are dead. The 2011 deadline is coming nigh....and President Barak Obama and NATO want Canada to consider extending the deployment of Canadian troops.

The motives are different. The US wants to... needs to, as matter of national security, to defeat insurgency in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Our European allies want Canada to remain and continue to "punch above its weight" so European soldiers do not have to actually fight or die.

That begs a few questions: "Nations do not have friends, nations have interests" -Henry Kissinger. Is American national security re terrorism in Afghanistan and Pakistan compatible with Canadian national interests? If this country, Canada is going to be a continuing ally in "the war against terror"....should not our "friends "and neighbours across the medicine line be more amenable in matters of trade, or just living up to their free trade agreements.

If our"friends and neighbours" to the south want Canadians to fight side by side...maybe that 7 % Softwood lumber tariff was a mistake...or the buy American provision in the currant stimulus plan ought to be rethought. Our American "friends" give Israel roughly 3 billion dollars a year to be spent buying weapons systems from US defense contractors...to survive. (both Israel and US defense industries) Perhaps US dollars should flow to Canada to buy weapons systems and patrol aircraft and naval platforms...after all, aren't we your "friends and allies"?

There is nothing similar with American culture, and politics between Canada and the US. Canada evolved into nation status and the US,revolted violently. This difference in the means we became nations...has greatly defined who and what we are. Our American "friends" look upon Canada as cultural, economic and political satrap....

Now to their great consternation they are finding out... that is NOT the case . Nothing good came to Canada by way of America. Canada's military "schewir punct" should be defense of our continental shelf and the arctic.

In a couple of short hours I am leaving for Calgary with my "bride" for a good "Ruth Chris" steak dinner with my wife's parents. A "old boy's rugby game with my Rugby Club compatriots, in what is certain to be a titantic struggle against one of Calgary's many Rugby clubs, (I am reticent to say which one, because Amos would probably try to call it) a few, alright several Guinness's' after. And a gathering of like minded conservative folks later Saturday evening.

I am reminded of David Amos' comment on his You Tube Channel this morning whilst he was insulting some youngsters from the UK. "Those who laugh last, last best." This evening I will have a fifty dollar steak, and wine...I will fight with my "father in law" to pick up the tab, a struggle I will win, because he paid last time.

Tonight our diseased homeless animal, and worthy victim for Robert Picton, will eat one of those dollar Noodle Bowls and further commiserate about her "mental and physical human rights". David will have to content himself with tinned beans.

Because I work, I have always worked, got an education and served my nation...my wife tomorrow is able to and will, go shopping with her mother. She can buy whatever she wants from a car to shoes, as since she is a woman, my money is on shoes.

Because I work, and I believe in work and education I can give my wife the joy of shopping with her mother...the way it is supposed to be. My father in law worked for one company in his life..... Cominco. His retirement was well provided for and well planned... the way it is supposed to be. And yes David, my father in law is a Freemason. He is not only of the "craft" he is a Shriner as well. You know David, those men in the funny hats that help children in need get medical help and extras they require .

David Amos asks his kids for money. Robin lives in a flop house or worse and constantly making scenes in elected officials, and bureaucrats offices to whine for money...to further ensure what "it" calls her mental and physical human rights".

So David Amos makes up and embellishes "tall tales" to compensate for the "balagan" his life has always been. David and Robin both lie on the world wide web. There were no phone calls from the American White House for David Amos. Robin Reid never e mailed me to meet her a MLA's office to see "what she was all about" (from that same office, police took her to a mental health facility).

US authorities never attempted to "render" David to Guantanamo Bay Cuba. David never as claimed, "participated in the investigation and prosecution of Bernie Madoff and Elliot Sptizer". David Amos likes to say he has sued everyone from the Crown to Cardinal Law...yada yada yada. But neither of these under-evolved animals have worked a day in their lives.

Some civilian advocate referring her to services available to her as a "victim of crime? By David Amos's accounts he has been trying to "wage war on trolls and evil Zionists" for years. He has called the police regarding myself and a boy in Nottingham, and others.

Robin Reid is a parasite

Some years ago the province of Alberta reduced welfare payments and demanded that recipients of social assistance show proof of trying to find work or enrolled in some sort of training. The result or one of the results was welfare rolls were reduced dramatically. Thank you Don Getty and Ralph Klein!

But then AISH payments were increased to those that claim they can't work, which is nonsense of course anyone can work at a desk or something. That increased the ASH rolls and the accompanying burden to the taxpayer.

I was talking to a student here at the U of A that is studying Petroleum Engineering as from Toronto (Jane and Finch) When asked how he liked it here ...he said "it's harsh, but good! Obviously here was talking about grades and the spectre of academic probation...but also remarked on life and jobs here in Alberta. He said that jobs even now are plentiful, but with the price of everything ONE HAD to work. But wages here in Alberta are higher than back in Ontario.

I think it was Monday, that two brilliant men of letters, Saloman Rushdie and Elle Wiesel conducted a debate in Toronto about the boundries of "free speech" and religion in thw world. It was breath taking to here these literary giants on the computer. But as from the ridiculous to the sublime her is David Anus whining about this post here from a few minutes ago. Why not if these people were "humanitarians" doing their bit for the"poor people of Gaza"?

The fact is; that many ignorant Canadians that support the so called "freedom flotilla" do not know or care that the Government of Israel, will not allow the blockade of Gaza to be breached. Nor do these people understand the people of Israel by the vast majority...do NOT want Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to end the blockade of Gaza. The people of Israel, do NOT want HAMAS to further import weapons into Gaza....to kill Israeli women and children with. The Israeli people overwhelmingly well over 90% supported OP Cast Lead, last year.

The reality is: This will soon blow over. The next convoy of "activist ships" will no doubt receive a "shot across the bows", Israeli spec-war operators will board...and they won't be armed with "paint-ball guns" this time. It will indeed be case of "mess with the best, and you will dead with the rest.

The reality is: North and South Korea may will begin hostilities over North Korea torpedoing and Republic of South Korea ASW vessel. My mother is 75 years old, and worked for a lifetime owning a Dry Cleaners, and working in it everyday. Dad was an officer in CF, and both provided for their retirement. Now Mom at 75 pays taxes that support a lazy hooker like Robin, and layabout like David Amos...so much for "human rights"!
