Today's National Post reports: "The Days of an Ontario-Quebec power nexus are numbered, experts say". The days of political and economic power of the "Golden Horseshoe and Ontario and Quebec are gone. The new "Big West" is now predominate in Canada. Canada's western provinces have a combined population of ten million will only carry the bulk of weight in debates over national issues , such as pension reform, health and social transfers, foreign investment, and native "peoples" relations, but will continue to do so as western economies continue to outstrip "eastern kanadian" economies in every way now, and into the future.

Canada is evolving, and the economic, political, social , centre of gravity is shifting from a more socialist and liberal "eastern Kanada" to a more responsible and right of centre western Canada. The OECD reports if western Canada were a sovereign nation it's 180 billion annually exports would make it the 26 th largest economy on the planet. In short: "western Canada sells the resources the world wants",.

There are problems. Western Canada is home to two thirds of Canada's injun population. Due to "native peoples" societies, "political systems" and cultures being unevolved and backward...injuns have higher levels of unemployment, their "people" uneducated , higher rates of social ills (drug abuse, spousal abuse etc) than the rest of an enlightened population in Western Canada. This indeed is an example of "social Darwinism".
